A pub is for life not just for Christmas
A quiet week with the only beer drunk, BOTW Oakham Bishops Farewell, a worthy winner.
A solid session in a Fuller's pub had Black Cab Stout leading the field, but pipped at the post by Dark Star Six Hop Ale in The George ,Croydon ;a DS monthly special. At 6.5% not something you can just tip back, but a great hop sensation and the pint went down quicker than I initially expected.
Next week looks like a corker, boating back to Leicester and then some Blue Monkey action in Loughborough
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
After two publess weeks, several visits, but varied quality:
Goody Ales-Bleangate Brewery: Good Health.Quite aggresively hopped, stone fruit.Good.
Shepherd Neame:Early Bird. A few hops in there somewhere.
Harveys: Sussex Best Bitter. Tired. Note to self-try not to drink this except in a Harveys tied house.
St Austell: Tribute. Workmanlike, but why fetch it all the way to Kent, when we could be drinking Incubus?
Black Country:Bradley's Finest Golden. Another piney/citrussy Golden Ale. Why fetch it all the way to Kent?
Rother Valley: Level Best.Biscuity, earthy, a bit hoppier than when I used to drink this back in the '90s. Good stuff.
A toss up between the Goody and the Rother, but on reflection my BOTW is Goody Ales Good Health, if only because it is a Kentish ale drunk in Kent, rather than a Sussex beer drunk in Kent.

Very quiet variety-wise this week
