I'd say he was fairly flush after the Hatton Garden job

    Default CAMRA winter beer festival

No surprise to meet Gill and Ray at the Camra winter beer festival (or beer festival winter, as it is now called) - in fact I had been looking around expecting to see them for the best part of an hour. Then I was at the bar waiting to be served when a voice beside me said "this gentleman is before me", and it was Gill! Really good to catch up with them both. Gill with her great enthusiasm for whatever she was drinking, or looking forward to what was next. Ray just as sharp and witty as ever. What great way to spend your retirement.

Not in a pub of course, but close to The Old Oak, Robert Peston the other night - didn't appear to be observing social distancing either...

Wikipedia ( ) says he died in 1987? Unless you're talking about a different one, I had to google this one.
