    Can I just check.

    We know that email hasn't been working from the site for a month now. I think I may have just got a temporary fix in. Could you let me know if you have received an email from the forum or main site since this morning?

    Once it is confirmed I can enable registration on the main site and continue getting the permanent fix in place.

    I've just amended a York review on a pub that I'm following. Let's see what happens.

    Ummmmm, it has only been broken a month. I think the rest must have been finding their way to your spam filter.

    Possibly not, that happened to me as well. The last message to my work address was on 7 March and no, they weren't being trapped by our spam trapper, that's the first place I looked. I changed the destination to my home ISP address and it all started working so something of a mystery.

    We use a system that some email systems don't play well with. We send most of our emails from an email address saying donotreply as the start of the mail address, and the mail address doesn't actually exist.

    Some email servers as soon as they receive an email hold it, and then try and instantly send a response back to the sender.

    The senders server will then either reply with ok I am here what is your message - to which the receivers server goes, actually don't worry about it, then delivers the mail to the receivers box.

    Or the senders server says, I don't know anyone of that name - to which the receivers server goes, ah well I have taken this mail and can't hand it back so I will just throw it away.

    You may guess from my tone that the second one is not really keeping with the way that email is designed to be used and so we don't really make any concession for it. So I am guessing that was your issue Nick (or something similar) - but we have done that for a long time and haven't changed anything functionally in the way the email is sent (it is just being relayed through a secondary server now), so it is likely to either be a blacklisting or spam issue with Wittenden not receiving it for a year now.
