Interesting selection this week after a day or two boating with BF around Aylesbury:
    Chiltern 300's
    Aylesbury Hornswoggler, Illumination Porter
    Vale - King of Snow
    Butcombe Bitter
    Adnams Southwold
    Fullers Bengal Lancer
    Darkstar Hophead
    Oakham Bishops Farewell

I enjoyed the Illumination Porter, Hophead and Bengal Lancer but BOTW is Vale Brewery's King of Snow. Light and drinkable at 3.9% but with plenty of flavour it's like a dialled down Gravitas. Very appropriate name today too.

    One (unplanned) pub visit.
Surrey Hills-Shere Drop. Mid to pale, nettles and citrus, hedge fruit. A Surrey classic. My BOTW

An excellent week for beer, bolstered by a visit to Leeds. This week's contenders:

WharfeBank - Slingers Gold, Tether Blonde.
    Ridgeside - Jailbreak, Cascade.
    Moorhouses - Black Cat.
    Kirkstall - Three Swords.
    Geeves - No1.
    Ilkley - Lotus IPA.
    Oxfordshire - Churchill.
    Thornbridge - St Petersburg.
    Leeds - Midnight Bell.
    Bridgehouse - Porter.
    Elland - Cascade Three Ways.
    Hawkshead - Brodie's Prime.
    Milk Street - The Usual.
    Wentworth - Oatmeal Stout.
Box Steam - Dark & Handsome.
    Roosters - Humble Pie.
    Acorn - Winter Pale Ale.
    Great Heck - Powerhouse.
    Rudgate - Teiwaz.
Fernandes - Jackdaw MILD, Nelson IPA, Triple OOO.
    Great Heck - Golden Bull.

Some good beers in there, but it came down to the Black Cat versus the Three Swords, both sampled in The Grove, Leeds. The latter just shaded it.

BOTW is going to be Adnams Shingle Shells described as a scarlet festive beer.

It was a bit late for Xmas, but it tasted great in The Baum last week.

It's also a great name for an Xmas beer from a coastal brewery as well.
A pub is for life not just for Christmas
