It's going to take a lot to beat Brodies - Citra For Breakfast served in Brewdog Manchester...in thirds...

    Thirds?? What's that all about?

Here's my list peppered with fairly run of the mill stuff

    Brodie's Mild 3.6%
    Mauldon's Bah Humbug 4.9%
    Hopback Summer Lightning 5.0%
    Triple fff Comfortably Numb 5.0%
    Arundel Old Scrooge 5.0%
    Brodie's White IPA 5.0%
    Beartown Santa's Extra Claws 5.2%
    Exmoor Stag 5.2%
    Brodie's Dalston Black (keykeg) 7.0%
    Brodie's Brett IPA (keykeg) 7.0%

The winner is Brodie's Mild. For a brewer totally obsessed with hops from every corner of the globe this is a suitably restrained brew where the predominate flavour. as it should be is malt.

I would happily give an honourable mention to the Arundel brew.

    2-0 to Brodie's so far!

I agree. It was 10% + though I think, and I was meant to be going back to work afterwards...

A couple of decent nights drinking this week , not even the shock of bumping into Soup Dragon in the Old Fighting Cocks and him beating me at darts in the Station Hotel could put a dampner on it

    Ringwood - Porter
    Abbeydale - Slay Bells
    Nottingham - EPA
    Mallinsons - Amarillo
    Mallinsons - Comet
    Green Duck - James Pond
    Banks - Sunbeam
    Nottingham - Bullion
    Hackney - American Pale Ale
    Nethergate - Umbel Magna
    Wentworth - Plum Pudding

    Quiet, local week:
Old Dairy-Copper Top: reliable and farmyardey. A good pre Christmas lunch pipe opener.
Shepherd Neame-Late Red: not as cloying as last year. Not bad with the old crowd on a wet afternoon.
    My BOTW-Old Dairy-Copper Top (again!).

A quiet week for me spent mainly at home drinking bottled beers. The draught list is fairly short

    Hop Studio - Gold
    Knaresborough - Penal Colony PA
Knaresborough - American Style Milk Stout
Black Sheep - Imperial Russian Stout
    Roosters - Franklyn
    York - Guzzler
    Adnams - Shingle Shells
Sarah Hughes - Dark Ruby Mild

so a very difficult choice between the three dark strong beers but I'll go for the outstanding Sarah Hughes (again)

    Fyne- Hurricane Jack
    Thornbridge -Warp
    Summer Wine-Barista Espresso Stout
    Oakham- Bishops Farewell
    Courage Best
    Marstons Oyster Stout
Best beer of the week was Oakham Bishops Farewell enjoyed in the ever reliable Harp.

    A wise choice!

    A better week which included:
    Oakham Bishops Farewell
    Slaters Columbia Stout
    Victory Whitebeard Stout
    Bass
    Church End Vicars Ruin
    Saltaire Winters Ale

All were good but the Victory Whitebeard Stout was outstanding. I've never heard of the brewery and can't seem to find out anything about it but the stout was rich with a serious depth of flavour and powerful at 6.8%.
