The Old Swan,Netherton gets my vote as POTM the first among equals on the Black Country Tour. It's just so wonderfully traditional and Quinno's two sets of photos capture so much of what makes this a great pub.The ale's not bad either.

The Merchants Inn, Rugby deserves a mention. It's always very good and would be the first place I'd head if in Rugby but it also hosts two outstanding beer festivals each year in October and April with up to 100 beers available across a very broad spectrum.
POTM though, as I have nominated The Merchants previously, goes to The Royal Exchange, Stone. I like all the Titanic outlets I've visited but this is my favourite due to it's friendly atmosphere, always lit fires, quality pies and outstanding ale.

My nomination this month is the Templar Hotel, in Leeds. It's currently perceived to be under real threat from the Eastgate re-development project, with one source telling CAMRA it's due to close altogether in April 2014. Other rumours speculate that the facade may be kept, but the interior may be gutted, for non-pub use.

Our visit on Saturday 27th October found it absolutely heaving. This is a proper, drink led, boozer. It's one of a dwindling number, close to the market, that has the feel of a real working man's pub. A great atmosphere when we called and wonderfully cheap: Two pints of Kirkstall 'Three Swords', two of Tetley MILD and a Saltaire Pale for £13.00 exactly. Marvellous. Surely, they can't close this place?

Latest rumour is that it's safe for what it's worth.

My bus stop coming into Leeds is just by the Templar and going out of Leeds is across the road from North
    what a contrast.

POTM is going to be The Hop in Sheffield.

New build conversion, nicely done and with 10 handpump serving great quality beer.

Yet another great pub on Sheffields ever expanding real ale trail.
