Cleethorpes and Grimsby

After a stint of work and no play, I'm visiting the above, where my girlfriend originally hailed from, for the first time this weekend. It seems to be largely unreviewed on the site, and I'm hoping to have some time to work on that. However, apart from Willy's Pub & Brewery which certainly looks worth a visit, I'm not sure where to go. Any suggestions, anyone? Will be staying in Cleethorpes but also spending some time in Grimsby, but only have a couple of days and plenty else to do so I doubt I'll get round that many pubs and would like to line up some good ones if poss.

I went to Willy's when I was in Grimsby/Cleethorpes a couple of years ago - this was before I joined Pubs Galore so there are no photos or reviews from my visit there. Other pubs visited were The Rutland Arms (OK but nothing special - Old Mill beers, as I recall), County Hotel (again, nothing special) and Click'em Inn, which I liked, though you might find it too far out of town for you. One that I meant to go to but didn't have the time for was Swigs, which has been reviewed but not photographed.

Most pubs in Grimsby tend to be pretty rough dumps, so i would advise you to avoid all pubs i have reviewed as i seem to find those sort of pubs out.

Thanks Al, I sort of factored in your abiding generosity when I looked at them and figured they couldn't be that great! I think most of the ones you've reviewed are in the Grimsby Docks area, which even my good lady won't defend. I think I've got a few better looking ones lined up now in Cleethorpes - the No.2 Bar at the station, the Notts, the Signal Box and Willy's, and will try some as yet uncharted ones as well.
