Burton
Hi all,
Off to Burton next Saturday for the footie. I know there are a lot of pubs - I have been to a few around the town.
Any good ones en route to the ground ? Soupy has been to the Old Cottage - Old Cottage and the Prince Alfred - Prince Alfred
There are 17 or so pubs between the station and the ground so plenty of scope !!
Also anybody know if there are any early openers ( apart from Spoons ) ?
Del.
I am a salmon !!

Camra's national inventory of historic pub interiors, so it's probably best to go there early in the day, while you're in a fit state to appreciate its merits and charms.
I agree with the Hatster - Cooper's is a must

I have been to the Coopers. I agree it is a cracking pub. When I went before I went in a few in the town ( Coopers, Devonshire, Roebuck, spoons, Dog, Leopard, Royal Oak etc..)
I was thinking of heading to new ground along the Derby Road to the footie ground ( past the Derby, Prince Alfred etc ) There are a load of pubs up that way to try out !!
Has anyone ventured up that way ??

Hi Del,
I have been in over 80 pubs in Burton, the Derby Inn that you mention is a really nice small Marstons house,if you walk up horninglow road there is a very good crawl downhill taking in around 8 pubs which takes you down to derby turn and derby road towards the ground, the derby turn pub has closed down and was'nt that good anyway.
Most pubs in Burton tend to be small back street pubs that are the sort i like visiting.
I hope you have a good day out there.

That sounds more like my kind of thing !! I want to try and go in as many new pubs there as I can. With a new ground for me to tick off what can go wrong !!

Have you seen this pub crawl? Described as "traditional, trouble free pubs that serve good quality ales in a friendly atmosphere".
