    Cinque Ports

I mentioned a one-post "reviewer" who merely wittered on about the food in this pub but didn't actually tell us anything about the pub itself. It occurred to me that most of the people who do this seem to be women and that it usually happens after a family meal, Mothers' Day treat or similar.

I hasten to say to Gill, Lady Grey and all our other "proper" lady members and reviewers that this isn't a misogynistic dig, but I wonder why this might be the case. Any thoughts?

Maybe men are more likely to get things off their chests atthe scene rather than letting it fester and build up into a multi website bombardment.

Any idea what ‘freezer burnt’ means?

You need to learn the new trick:

    -highlight word/phrase on web page
    -right click
    -select 'search Google for XXX'

It's a relatively new phenomena in my Firefox but it's very handy

A deja vu moment for me ETA. Even the thread title.

Thanks Strongers, that's two things I've learned today.

Fair enough - I will remember to do a proper search next time...

Thanks for search tip, learn a trick every day

As a bloke and thus not sure of female thinking [come on, we have all heard "if you don't know I am not going to tell you" ] I suspect the ladies have built up an expectation of a lovely time out, only to have it ruined by surly servants, rubbish food etc

Blokes meanwhile just want to have pint, peace & quiet, with maybe some decent grub chucked in, in that order.

2 out of 3 is fine

Just remember how you thought and reasoned as a child and you'll have it sussed with women. I remember if I got treated to a take away and it wasn't really good I'd end up being really upset as it'd be weeks before the next take-away.

Spinko's quote "Blokes meanwhile just want to have pint, peace & quiet, with maybe some decent grub chucked in, in that order."

That is how this female likes a pub. Go to a pub for good beer, and enjoy it best in a quiet pub. As we tend to do lunch times rather than evenings, if we are enjoying the beer we don't mind stopping for decent pub grub. Simple.
Alcohol doesn't solve problems .... but then again, neither does milk.
