What's your mode of transport Griff?

If it's by train there are any number of bad pubs near Castleton, Mills Hill & Moston stations and I wouldn't bother.

My train crawl would be Baum, Regal Moon, Flying Horse & Cask & Feather in Rochdale.

Train to Manchester then Angel, Marble Arch, Fringe, Common, Odd, Port Street Beer House and ignore the dross in between.

If it's by bus that gives you loads of extra options.

    Let me know.

There's only 1 route into Manchester from Rochdale by train.

What you could do though is get the train from Rochdale to Salford Crescent. The 04 past the hour goes direct from Rochdale.

There are other trains, but you'd have to change at Victoria.

You could then crawl back into Manchester via The Crescent, New Oxford, Kings Arms, Mark Addy, Gaslamp, Oasthouse.

Plenty of good ale and the walk is all downwards from Salford Crescent station.

The Crescent is just over 5 minutes walk from Salford Crescent station.

New Oxford is a further 5 minutes walk down Chapel Street.

Kings Head is 2/3 minutes from New Oxford.

Mark Addy is same again from Kings Head.

Gaslamp is 30 seconds from Mark Addy.

Oasthouse is about a minute from Gaslamp.

If you type in Crescent in the search site box at the top right on the main site The Crescent should be the first pub shown.

Click on the pub name and when the pub is shown click on the pub map.

You'll be able to see map points for all the suggested pubs and you can drag the map around to follow the trail down Chapel Street and beyond.
