Should be a hefty week this one, with a few in Leeds tomorrow to be followed by Derby and a Birmingham crawl Friday, Swindon Saturday, and London Sunday. The main thing will be remembering them all

First good one before I forget, Marble-Draft in the Fox and Newt. Went down brilliantly with the piri piri chicken

    I don't think I've ever had a beer I didn't like from Marble, I just don't see enough of it. I'm envious.

    Not a bad week:
    Oakham Bishops Farewell
    Great Oakley Fly the Flag
    Hop Back Summer Lightening
    Holdens Golden Glow
    Jennings Snecklifter
    Pedigree
    Bass
    Leatherbritches Coopers and Bounder
    Full Mash Warlord
    Beowulf Gold Work
    Blue Monkey 99 Red Baboons

Some excellent ale in there and one or two new breweries for me. Of note were the Leatherbritches Coopers in The Coopers Arms, Weston, Bass in The Coopers Tavern, Burton and the ever excellent Summer Lightening here. BOTW though was Blue Monkey 99 Red Baboons, in The Crown, Beeston, which having tried a number of other ales really stood out as quality.

A very enjoyable few days in Staffordshire and Notts with some great beer in outstanding pubs made this a very good week. Also some tip top Dark Star ales in The Harp which were close to BOTW but the truely outstanding beer was Blue Monkey 99 Red Baboons as trailed by Mr P.

Back in Nottingham this coming Friday where The Organ Grinder are having a Blue Monkey beer festival featuring a few of their occasional brews and all the regulars, likely to be dangerous http://www.bluemonkeybrewery.com/new...ival-beer-list

Will be in Notts on Sunday, so will have to look into the Organ Grinder - looks like some interesting beers. Thanks for that BF

Mr Fastard prompts me to join the thread....

The Hope's Extreme Beer Fest did pretty much what it said on the tin. Marble Draft and Bristol Brewers United ‘Smoked Porter’ came out tops for me - the latter shading it, but both just pipped by an excellent Dark Star American Pale Ale in the Harp. Better even than that, however, was brewery fresh Gilt Complex from Surrey Hills. This is their summer ale and is highly recommended if you encounter it. There was a mountain biking event in the area yesterday - respect to the riders that I encountered entering Denbies, none of them could conceivably have been any wetter or muddier.

A close run thing for me this week. The Milkwood Dylan Thomas and Nethergate Old Growler were very good but my BoTW, largely because I drank so much of it, is Sadlers Thin Ice
I've just joined Alcoholics Anonymous - I still drink, just under a different name.
