    Default First Olympic beer

I found my first Olympic themed beer during the week at the Doric Arch in Euston. Elgoods seem early to the party and it looks like they'll be putting out a range of beers under an 'Elgoods 2012 Dog Decathlon' banner. The pump clip had a cartoon of a dog playing basketball, the name of the beer? Hound of the Basketballs Good name and a good 5% beer.

So the Olympic torch has arrived in the UK and started it's journey. It has already passed through a part of Cornwall where my nieces live and they tell me that the flame was carried on one leg of it's journey by someone they know, a young disabled kid in a wheelchair. It's good to see this sort of thing happening.

Is the journey taking it anywhere near you?

It's going past my kitchen window early one tuesday morning in July. I'm on the first floor and I already have this wicked urge to chuck a bucket of water out of the window at the appropriate moment. Do you think I would end up in the Tower as a consequence ?

I agree though it's good to see ordinary people and the disadvantaged being involved in the relay.

The hotel near me is hosting a champagne Olympic Torch breakfast. Don't think I'll be buying a ticket.

No where near me, it is going in a van from Pompey to Petersfield, hope it catches fire

Meanwhile I shall save myself for a beer festival actually within walking distance for once

An interesting little snipet that i read the other day. When London last hosted the Olympics, in 1948, a pint of beer cost 9d (4p). I wonder how much of that went to the treasury in tax !!
