Definitely a contender is Dagda Bar in Edinburgh.

A cracking little pub that is much more traditional than it looks from the outside.

Visited some old favourite canalside pubs in April, but never stopped in Beeston before.Glad I did as there were two great pubs within a short stroll of the navigation. The Victoria Hotel was pure class, lots of authentic features but even this was surpassed by The Crown Inn,which was an outstanding POTM. It is in the lead for my Pub of the Year and ,if there were such a thing,it would be in my Top 20 of all time.

Was hoping to navigate further along the Trent this weekend to visit both Newark and Lincoln but with the rivers around there in flood ,I may be spending longer in the canal section between Beeston and Nottingham than is good for my liver.

Well this has been a desperately unpopular thread again.

I've no idea why really as we all seem to spend quite a large part of our lives in pubs.

Should we discontinue this thread or shall I add one for May?

Mind you as nobody reads this thread I'm not sure how many replies I'll get.

It would probably be more popular if it was the Bloody Awful Pub Of The Month thread.

No, I'm more guilty than anyone for non-contribution, sorry, but if even one person highlights a cracker that someone esle might put on their radar, then I think it's a good thing.
I've been to both of BF's nominees, and can only concur, though I've a slight leaning to the Vic...

Personaly I think it's because I have a regular or two that I really like and don't get to new pubs often enough so it'd always end up being either Foley's or Fox & Newt in Leeds..this will change in June though when I get to the right side of the Pennines

I really like these threads too. I've added numerous pubs to the 'to do' list thanks to these threads. My problem is that I always forget to post on them at the end of each month.

Anyway, my POTM has to be the excellent The Land Of Liberty, Peace & Plenty. It took me ages to get there (including a nightmare journey on the Metropolitan line which passed through Wembley just after the Liverpool v Everton cup semi-final had finished), but it was well worth making the effort. A really nice welcoming rural pub with a fine choice of well kept beer - I'll put a review up soon.
