Managed to open my account yesterday, at the Six Chimneys, Wakefield. Unfortunately, the Smuttynose had just gone off, so can't compare notes with 'oldboots' and the highly anticipated Moorhouses APA had the dreaded available soon clip. However, tried the following:

Brains - Clock Tower: Enjoyable, refreshing golden ale. Possibly a tad sweet?

Thwaites - Logans Run: Certainly different and refreshing, with definite berry notes. Better than I was expecting, but not sure I'd want more than one.

Elgoods - Snake Slayer: A decent enough stout, with typical roast flavours. A bit one dimensional?

Batemans - Smokey Joe: I really struggle with smoked beers and so trying this was an act of pure optimism. Watery Laphraoig is the phrase that sprang to mind. Just not my thing.

Bishop's Mill, Durham had 28 - Nogne 0 Bitter, 30 - Hilden Scullions Irish Ale, 43 - Wharfebank Wispa IPA, and 48 - Titanic Nine Tenths Below. Really enjoyed the Titanic.

Also on was West Country English Ale and Newby Wyke White Squall plus about 4 ciders.

Managed to get through 9 so far but am looking at notching up a half a dozen around the West end after work today before heading off to football. Is there a PG glugging chart this time or have I missed the link?

5 in the Lord Moon last night with mixed results. 14 chalked up now and I expect a few 'Spoons brekkies over my long weekend in Huddersfield/Halifax/Wherever from tomorrow.

I should imagine you've already got The Star, Huddersfield (Lockwood) on your 'to do' list. If not, it might be well worth considering, especially as they have one of their highly regarded beer festivals on this weekend. Beer list here: http://www.aswiftone.com/2012/03/sta...ival-list.html See other recent 'a swift one' blogs for more info.

It is a few minutes walk from the centre, but you have to walk down past the Rat & Ratchet, so the two are easily combined.

The Star and the R&R were both on the list but I wasn't aware of the beer festival - that's a bonus - thanks for that!
