Default Great Yarmouth - Any must do's

After being wiped out for the first two months of 2012 due to holiday and work commitments finally belatedly hitting the Ale trail this weekend..

There is a reason behind, and at the expense of opening myself to public ridicule, a group of us will be attending the Legends of Rock Weekend in Great Yarmouth, three days of Tribute Bands.

Many years since I've been in GY and looking at the derth of views, seems to be the same for a lot of people.

The only pub of note I can see is The Mariners Arms, but if anyone can recommend other notables worth escaping the Caravan site for, please let me know..

It's been a few years since I've been in Great Yarmouth so I'm a bit out of date but............

this one The Mariners Tavern was great then and is still in the GBG2012.

The same applies to this one Oliver Twist.

The GBG also has St Johns Head but I don't remember this one at all.

    Thanks Rob,

Made the Mariners Tavern which was top notch (12 pumps on) and done a couple of others which were recommended by locals.

Fortunately we didn't need to go over the wall as much as expected as the Holiday Camp venue for the event had the foresight to complement the fizz taps of the main bars with a rack of real ale barrels. So we had a range of Woodforde's Brewery ales and virtually the full range from the small Humpty Dumpty brewery of Norfolk to have a go at over the three days..
Unfortunately they underestimated the number of barrels required and they usually run out by 10.30ish meaning the last couple had to be from the fizz taps..
Word of warning.. Courage Dark Mild... Sounds inviting, but don't go there !
