'And where he supped the past lived still. And where he sipped the glass brimmed full' John Barleycorn, Carol Ann Duffy.
All I can say is the Swordfish at Newlyn. Been there for a dare, had the pint, stayed alive.
The Wellington - for just being all round excellent
Whalebone - quirky and their own brews on tap
Pave - Cafe bar with real ale - feel trendy when you're not!
Hop & Vine - Tiny cellar bar and also quirky
Olde Black Boy - Not as good as it was but still well worth a visit for the architecture
Olde White Hart - as Olde Black Boy
Walters - wine bar again but with a great selection of Ales
Admiral of the Humber - Roughish JDW, but the staff and ale have always been excellent.
Three John Scotts - JDW with decent guest ales
Minerva - Not been since it reopened but used to be good.
And there are several other worth a look.
A pub is for life not just for Christmas
