Perhaps there should be categories, for example my favourite 3d sign is this one in Brum, for an interpretation of an old name this one in County Durham, or for the artistic. York has a touch of the macabre here or here. We also have the humourous here or here.

Pub Sign of the Year 2012

The sign pays tribute to the late Syd James, star of 19 'Carry-on' movies, which were made at Pinewood Studios located nearby.

I know this is a bit off topic but I recently passed though a Shropshire village called Knockin and was delighted to see that after some 20 years the village shop was still there and was also still proudly displaying a sign showing itself to be "The Knockin Shop".

It's that time of the year again:

Pub sign of the year 2013 goes to the Rifleman in Twickenham. You can view the sign here: http://www.innsignsociety.com/year_f...2013)-1104.jpg

    The Rifleman

In perhaps the most gripping moment in pub-sign related history (), it was a dead heat this year, with the Rifleman winning on count back. Personally I prefer the 'runner- up': http://www.innsignsociety.com/year_f...2013)-1079.jpg

Pub sign of the Year 2014 has been awarded to the Milk Churn in Melksham. The pub only opened in July and hasn't even made it onto PuG yet! You can see the winning sign here:

The runner up is The Dog In A Doublet in Thorney, near Peterborough...

...and third place went to The Railwaymans Arms in Bridgnorth.

The Milk Churn was added by me the other day and is awaiting approval and needs a picture adding which I might get on Saturday.

    Also needs a postcode tinker.
