Just realised that whilst I was on holiday, I missed the thrilling denoument to the 2016 Pub Sign of the Year award. This year, it has gone to Old Hunters Tavern in Stalybridge. You can see the sign in Wynne Route's latest photo and on the Inn Sign Society website (although they have annoyingly put all their interesting content on a Member's Only page, making it difficult to try and promote this award). http://www.innsignsociety.com/Default.aspx

I clicked on to Peter Ashworth,s 2011 photo and though what a minger of a pub sign. The ISS site has the rather good newer version but still not overwhelmed. I rarely look at the pub sign but will keep my eyes open in future. I prefer the sign that's says All Pints £2. Rarely seen around London .cheers

It's that time of year again...

The Inn Sign Society has awarded the 2017 Pub Sign of the Year award to the House Martin in Barton-on-Sea.

The winner is a double sided sign - we don't have any photos of it on the site yet, but you can see the images in the links below - look out for the subtle reference to the band 'The Housemartins' in each image:

Pub Sign of the Year 2018 was announced earlier this week and the winner this year is The Lass O' Richmond Hill - a Young's pub situated just outside Richmond Park.

The photos on this site are out of date (I think there have been two new signs since the most recent PuG pictures were submitted), so for a look at the winning sign, you'll need to click here: https://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgu...act=mrc&uact=8

I sat in traffic outside that pub a few weeks ago and thought what a shit pub sign. Lucky I wasn't on the voting panel.
