deep in prayer.
Peeing down in North Yorkshire and rain is forecast all day for Hudd but on the bright side it's a balmy 2-3 degrees so no need for thermals :D.
Rat & Ratchet should be the place for you
Just to get the juices flowing this is what was on at The Grove today:
1397
hope we all like pale beers
14, AEM's mate Tony is also coming (#97), so not an unlucky number.
I'll be on either the 11:44 or 11:53 from Leeds arriving 12:01 or 12:10.
Apologies and grovelling, I didn't see a post from you saying you were coming, must have missed it being a daft old man.
I would estimate the timings a bit like this;
Cherry Tree <12:00
Kings Head 12:00-13:15 (allowing Trainman to arrive and neck a pint)
Sportsman 13:20-13:45
Magic Rock 13:55-14:15...
I thought so, I've booked the day off!
easy to miss out as it's on the edge of the area being further out than Magic Rock, perhaps it opens at 12 on Friday's but do we risk it?
Not one of my Huddersfield favourites and Camra has...
So that looks like:-
meet at Kings Head @Noon (Cherry Tree for early arrivals)
Sportsman
Magic Rock
*Slubbers Arms
Wood St
Vulcan
The Corner
Rat & Ratchet
That's useful, we could now do
meet at Kings Head @Noon (Cherry Tree for early arrivals)
Sportsman
Magic Rock
*Slubbers Arms
Wood St
Vulcan
*central pubs, Parish, Northern Taps, Warehouse...
being Huddersfield probably not what they are elsewhere :D
The Star also has late opening, 5pm on Fridays. Another central pub is the Parish (Pump) although not a classic isn't bad. I would also visit the Sportsman after the Kings Head and then go to Wood...
coupled with the fact that the Magic Rock opens at 3pm
It's usually done after the Rat, then it's not so far ....or dry
I was thinking the distance from the Slubbers to the Star may be a tadge long for a comfortable day, hence off piste. I suppose the order could be swapped round to accommodate MR and the Slubbers...
18th November then folks?
how about as a rough itinerary:
Kings Head (Station Tavern) opens 11:30
The Sportsman
Wood Street Craft Beer House opens 12:00
The Vulcan
The Grove
Rat & Ratchet
Have we settled on Huddersfield then? The date still remains open but will be one of these?
21st October
28th October
4th November
18th November
My preference is the 4th but flexible.
4th is good for me, I suspect ROBCamra won't be able to make the 11th. Has anyone any other dates to consider? Or has someone thought of an alternative to Hudd?
Looks like we missed Trainman's...
A little over rated IMHO, once away from the handful of, admittedly very good or excellent pubs, it's a bit mediocre. Having said that for those who haven't been it's a must do for Yorkshire. If...
