I was amused to learn that a new turn of phrase has been invented and that's an Aqualung mile. Roughly speaking, a five minute walk is an Aqualung mile although hills or even worse steps could vary...
I checked the PUG crawl history today and apparently next year is the 10th anniversary of the PUG crawls so assuming the South, North and Midland pattern is maintained it should by rights be Brum...
It was nice to meet up with the earlier arrivals in the Salopian bar and Alan H in the nearby JDW. This had a very poor choice of festival ales. I made it to the Three Fishes by 15:00 but not...
I'm heading up tomorrow with a visit to Newtown. My plans for Friday are to get a really early start at the Spoons and get to the Salopian for 11:00. If that plan fails it will be the Salopian for...
Having seen the weather forecast for the week it's a good call (apart from the Sam Smith aspect).
Thanks for confirming my suspicions. There are no guest ales in that list as they are all from Marston breweries. I'd rather have an extra pint elsewhere than have to chose from that dismal selection.
You're right and What Pub says the changing beers are from national sources but I'm not prepared to go there to find it's just Marston's beers or some other rubbish.
It's also a Marston pub so however wonderful the interior might be I have no interest in visiting it. I'm keen to get to the Three Fishes even though I have a suspicion I've been there before.
What's your favourite in Shrewsbury? It might surprise people to know that mine is the Salopian Bar as despite the TVs and noise they usually have something worth drinking and with the combined Happy...
Of course! I've been on it to Crewe and had forgotten all about it. So it's Reading to the Midlands avoiding London that's the big problem. Going to Hereford or Newport and getting the Transport for...
I hadn't seen that, it wouldn't affect travel from London apart from possibly congested trains in the West Midlands. I think it would make journeys via Reading virtually impossible and from...
That'll be about 20 for me!!
For those who don't want to walk to the Woodman/Royal Oak and/or the Dolphin, the bus station is next door to the Premier Inn and these are between the rail station and...
Here's my thoughts/
For some reason the Dolphin is not in the latest GBG.
The JDW 40th Anniversary Autumn beef festival is going on the date with many one off brews.
I wouldn't call any of...
This seems like a good starting plan. The only outlier not mentioned is the Joules Bricklayers in Copthorne but isn't worth the diversion. The Dolphin is worth a look but is a big diversion although...
I've got 3 nights at the PI booked which is nearer £50.00 a night than £30.00 as it's under three months away. I've also got the tickets up booked. Anyone thinking of staying on Friday night should...
As nobody has objected to the 18th of October I've assumed that it's the final answer.
That would have been on my return from Nottingham and that long tedious walk through St Pancras. It was a rubbish journey as well with my booked train was cancelled.
Shrewsbury Town have a fixture on 18th October. Happily it's away at Lincoln but it did give me a fright!
A quick decision would be good as some advance tickets are already up for that date.
I'll second that.
I CAN'T do Oct 11th & 25th nor Nov 1st.
