For me this is a brewery that I know the name of, have tried a few times but don't really know much about them and don't have any recollection of the beers (I don't keep permanent notes or records!)....
My favourite Tap is the Ludlow one as it's a purpose built space within the Goods Shed that houses the brewery. They are a decet but not great old school brewer. I'm more than happy to spend an...
The last Tiny Rebel beer I had was called Cask IPA and I thought it was dross. When I had Cwtch last in one of their bars it didn't have the impact it had when I first discovered it.
I remember when...
I've come across Mad Dog a few times but have no memories of outstanding beer. Breweries in Wales seem to be collapsing and I can see more going. The trouble is that there isn't much free trade and...
The explosion of new breweries seems to have finally drawn to a close. The new GBG has more than a whole page of closures with only a third of a page of future breweries and a list of around a dozen...
Nobody seems to have come up with a question as to whether Crate have problems. They started out as a Pizza and beer place in Hackney Wick long before other pubs, breweries and bars moved in. Surely...
This whole thing stinks. Hop stuff have appeared in London JDWs but only as a Locale beer or for the January London festival. I was going to visit their Woolwich tap next month but now won't bother....
Another example of a fairly long standing brewery going. I had them down as a totally old school but looking at the beers on their web site that doesn't seem to be the case.
I was told by a bloke in the Stourbridge Royal Exchange this week that there's a rumour going around that Batham's will sell up as they have no new blood willing to continue the business. I'm in the...
Is it owned or leased from a pubco? If the home pub and brewery are up for sale then presumably this would be as well if they own the freehold.
I think it's going to become a regular thing older...
I thought (probably wrongly) that the brewery had expanded away from the pub. That small pub near Winchester Station looked like a brewery tied house to me.
I'm sure I've seen the odd one in JDWs. According to the GBG they manage 16 pubs and have a 30 barrel plant.
One that I've seen but I have no real recollection of. They've been going since 2000 according to the GBG and expanded to a 40 barrel plant in 2004 which is a lot of beer. Being based in Bradford...
That's the way I see it and I was told years ago at Wild Card that they wouldn't trade with Enterprise. You only occasionally see Redemption or ELB in local Spoons nowadays but it's pretty obvious...
I suppose not, they are really small regional brewers nowadays, I wouldn't mind betting that all three brew more than say Batham's.
I came across one of theirs in Bury last year. The closed brewery section in the 2019 GBG is roughly 4 times the size of the future breweries section so one must assume that the bubble has largely...
I think I've only tried one which was OK. I suspect you're right and they are trying to fill the gap left by the demise of Cottage.
I make you right about closures. York beers used to appear in JDWs back in the day but don't any more.
I saw a post on social media recently about a brewery in Wales throwing in the towel but I'd...
I had no idea that the old independent Mitchells of Lancaster had any connection wit the York brewery. There seems to be a pattern developing here in that newer breweries from the late eighties or...
I've seen lots of them in Kent JDWs. They were old school but somewhat better than that Nelson brewery in Chatham. Kent does seem to be rather crowded with some of the brewers seeming to be quite a...
That would explain it, I'm not keen on Norfolk or East Anglia generally, partly because the trains are rubbish.
It's a double whammy for me as I've never tried their beer or even heard of them!
I found 4 on my BOTW list and I don't remember anything about them. There are a few micros in the NW that have been around a long time (I'm not suggesting they are any better) that probably have...
I've seen their beers around more often than I've tried them. I had an East India Porter last December. I can work that out as it's a week when I had Batham's XXX!
About all I feel qualified to say...
It's a local brewery for me but I've only ever tried one of their products and that was at a "sale" price. I'd be a lot more worried if it was Redemption or ELB going this way.
