Bravo, sir.
I think this thread was just Gill asking for recommendations, with no implication of a meet-up, organised or otherwise!
Lidl beer festival started on Thursday, a week after the Belgian week. They really are spoiling us. Plenty of new ones that haven't been in previous beer festivals too.
I was just about to post this. Agree this one is a shame.
I'm surprised they won't carry on brewing even if just in smaller batches for their bar - that would mitigate some of the issues with...
I thought they stopped doing the two-for-one meal deal years ago. Last time I was in one I did notice they did a multi-buy deal on the "small plates" menu (may have been three-for-two or three for...
Brilliant! :D
Was this really "without warning" - Wetherspoons seems to always have a list of pubs earmarked for disposal on the go, so assuming this was one of them then the manager and staff were surely aware. ...
Perhaps he has come across from BITE, where it was possible to leave a rating without a review. Obviously common sense would dictate that as PUG makes you leave a text review with your rating one...
Just about to upload some, but wanted to wait for the rename first (not that I suppose it really matters).
Quigley's is now No. 15 (and is open, contrary to the WhatPub listing).
The Beartown Cock is now The Antelope.
"We have been labelled 'woke' and all these weaponised words, which have made us feel pretty vulnerable."
He's perfectly entitled to sell or not sell whatever he chooses, of course, but this quote...
Hearing on Twitter that Worsthorne Brewing has gone bump. Based in Burnley, Lancs, a brewery name that rings a bell but I don't recall having any of their beers.
I had one of their beers at Salford Beer Festival in 2019 and was impressed. Not a brewery you see much of up north.
Old Town House now appears to be called Pasha Lounge.
Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I had completely forgotten about this advice and had still been manually checking orientation prior to uploading.
I've now uploaded some 'portrait'...
Just 1 for me so far this year, but it's a start!
Bar Metro is now Main Street Keller.
If you have a Home Bargains nearby, take a look at the beer aisle. Three different 4-packs of Saugatuck beers. Tom's Tiki (blonde) is £2.59, with Neapolitan Milk Stout and Blueberry Maple Stout at...
Sounds like it's very badly managed.
This seems like a reasonable enough method to jog the memory, I had forgotten that you can hover over the yellow star to see the rating.
So, down to business, I think I can conclude that No. 1 in...
Aha, thank you! Just thought maybe I was missing something obvious. I guess perhaps you and others use the same method for keeping track of 'new' pubs visited each year ("New pub visits" threads)? ...
It's always tough to try and choose a best pub, or top three, or whatever, but the following stood out for me this year:
Cheshire Cheese in Buxton - my first cask ale of the year and despite being...
Do you all have really good memories? Or is there a way of pulling your reviews for the year and sorting by lowest score given?
I have had some disappointing experiences this year, but where I...
Yeah, if you're staying in one pub for a couple of hours then a tab can be convenient and free up the staff to serve the next customer rather than taking a payment after each round. Ideally the pub...
I much prefer the pay as you go model whether paying by card or cash, as I like to know I am free to leave when I like without having to hang around and settle a tab. That was one of the downsides...
