Ha ha! Well spotted! But how would they have recognised Tris now that he's wearing "a hipster beard, ...a checked shirt and [has] EC2 tattooed on [his] wrist"?
I've had several Pohjala beers, and they're pretty much all for sipping! Worth every penny, though.
I remember describing how I recruited my daughter and her boyfriend to share a half of Steel City x Brasserie Fantome Taxi Vader, a 20% hors catégorie beer at Shakespeares in Sheffield before the...
When I was in London last November I had beers in nine pubs, mostly Putney, and they averaged £5.20 a pint.
It was much the same in January (a bit under £5), February (£5.15) and March (£5.20)...
I had a couple of halves in Pudsey for £1 and £1.20 respectively. In the Sam Smiths pub I paid a whopping £1.50 for a half. These were all keg beers.
I haven't seen any £1.79 pints in Yorkshire.
This is because their pricing policy involves a calculation based on abv - see my recent review: Southampton Arms
or to save you clicking, and for future reference (as if ;) ) "...the new (or new...
It seems like a win-win-win-win situation to me:
Win 1: not so much weight in your bag coming back from the shop
Win 2: you get to drink better, or at least more interesting beer
Win 3: you...
Do the crawl the other way round.
Too many beers, not enough customers? With prices like that, it wouldn't be surprising if sales fell off a little.
In York on Saturday at the Fox & Roman on Tadcaster Road (near the racecourse). A Vintage Inns pub but there's nothing old fashioned about the prices. Black Sheep Bitter was £4.15, and when I...
Of 15 beers I had in London Thursday and Friday - halves of course - only two came in at under £4.70/pint. They were in the Salisbury Hotel, Green Lanes, Harringay. Pints at £4.70 were to be had at...
Very good of you to make such a sacrifice.
Most of the pubs I've been to since 12 April have maintained previous prices (Raven Inn £2.70, Fat Cat £2.80, Sheffield Tap £3.60), but the Kelham Island Tavern seems slightly more expensive (£3.30);...
I was just saying to the lass in Beer Central in Sheffield's Moor Market today, with a 440ml can in each hand with price stickers saying £8.50 and £8.95, that this time last year I rarely paid over...
I'm only a beginner on whisky, Jim. I have yet to pay much more than £30 for a bottle, so £350 seems like a hell of a lot. Have you had a look at the gift ideas on this website?
Thanks Mick. I was a little unsteady on my feet leaving the pub. (Hic!)
My first drink in Shakespeare's in Sheffield since reopening. Nothing very interesting on cask (Barnsley Bitter and a couple from Abbeydale Brewery), so I had a look at the keg offerings. Went for...
You lucky, lucky bastard!
£4.50 a pint but £2.75 for a half? They were having a larf, weren't they?
To be fair to the person who served me at the Marylebone station pub, her tone of voice and body language were sympathetic...
OK, I see your hybrid Dry Stout 5.9% @ £7.20 per pint and raise you a half of Sharps Doom Bar 4% plus a half of Greene King IPA 3.6% for just short of £6 here.
OMG - I forgot to leave a tip!
I called in for a swift half in the Peacock at Rowsley, near Matlock, last week. A delightful place, but my half cost £2.65, which is not normally what I'd expect to pay for Peak Ales Bakewell Best...
I don't know which is cheekier - them asking that much for a third of a pint, or you asking for a taster. In your favour, at least you held yourself back.
