They're being clever for the sake of it. Doesn't tempt me.
Why on G*d's earth??
Pity to learn this about McMullens. I haven't come across them in years: I used to enjoy their AK light mild-easy drinking, seaweedy as I recall. Not so impressed with their (best)bitter.
Some interesting comments:Milton was a new brewery for me when I had a pint of Sparta early this year in The Prince Albert . I can't speak about any other of their beers, but I found Sparta to have a...
Pity that, as in fact 6x was the first beer that I really noticed as being interesting rather than just beer. This was in about 1972, anyway before A levels. I don't often come across Wadworths now,...
Hadn't heard of them, looks like they are being too ambitious-Belgian yeast, NZhops. Stick with what you know.
I don't remember it from that far back, except as a nortern rarity. In theory, I stll drink it,but rarely do, as usually there is something more interesting. However I do enjoy Golden Best.
Update:...
Agreed!
Pity Wadworths seem to be going downhill:haven't been in a Wadworths pub since I was 17:6X was one of my beer epiphanies, when beer changed from falling down juice to something to really savour and...
Not sure of Roger's or rpa's views, but I'm not particularily taken with Nelson's produce.I've given up on their bottle conditioned ales because of inept conditioning (most brewers have got on top of...
I wouldn't bother!
...ah, it's not just beer, it's craft
beer.
This is very true: Wadworth's 6X was my epiphany beer in about 1971-it got carted about the land by I think Whitbred's and was never the same again. I certainly don't run after it anymore.
Yes, Young's Ordinary was a real treat here in Kent in the early CAMRA days, as was Special, though I always preferred the Ordinary. I'm intrigued by Sambrook's Wandle, though have never seen it....
You are damned for all eternity, you've used the B word...
Couldn't agree more!
Quite apart from questions of taste, they used to have major problems with the carbonation of their bottle conditioned ales. The only beer of theirs that I liked was Angry ox. A pity, as they used to...
[QUOTE=Al 10000;38356]There is a lot of this going on now,
Last year had a drink of Phipps Red Star this is a long closed Northamptonshire brewery i i dont know who brews this beer.
Grainstore...
I feel a bit churlish in nominating Hall and Woodhouse/Badger's "Poacher", as it was part of a Christmas present, but I drank it over an hour ago, and still can't get that cloying "hint" of damsons...
The Smarden Bell had the Pale for a while many years back, and I grew to prefer it to the Best. Don't often see it now in any guise, but I seem to think that Harvey's renamed it in honour of a pub...
Never tasted soil in sheps.I know they don't set the Thames alight, but on the whole I find Sheps reliable and on occasion, excellent. I tend to prefer Late Red and the rarely available Porter,and...
I went into the Brew Wharf in Borough Market last night.Too damn trendy for me. More importantly, the beer form the in house micro brewery was eyewateringly expensive at £3.90 and undrinkably cold....
