Absurd.
In the west country, Watney's never stopped producing cask beer. The Trowbridge brewery kept up production of Ushers PA and was on sale in many of their pubs - although rarely advertised. When the...
I used to regularly drink Worthington E at the Royal Oak (then a Gibbs Mew house) in Salisbury. Gibbs were all keg at the time, and E was a welcomed addition on a few of Gibbs' bar counters. I seem...
Courage (Reading) Best Bitter was a great pint. I never knew the A in ADB stood for Directors! I always thought it stood for A Directors Bitter. The Sun might have been a dump, but I find it rather...
Oh dear, I did indeed miss your post. I am so sorry. I also had no idea you were Citra 1! I'll try not to miss you again!
I don't know why, but I am not able to reply to this post - I am told I do not have access. I have clicked on the link, and there seems to be no detrimental review as posted. Maybe it has been...
As I live in Salisbury, I must get out more! Interesting beers, Mobyduck.
Am I being slightly naïve in thinking this is good news?
I totally agree. I think you can usually judge the merits of a review by the way it is written. I also applaud Strongers' attitude - there is nothing to be gained in starting an argument. My reviews...
Yes, I had a pint at The Harbour Inn in Porthleven. Hard to believe it comes from St Austell, yet another bland golden coloured ale of which there are many. I believe St Austell brew Dartmoor Best...
A bit embarrassed, to say the least, that in another thread, I expressed a liking for Watney's Red!
I was surprised that The Barge had gone so far downhill. I ranted about the councillors, but glad all turned out well in the end.
I like my beer to be a dark brown colour. Although some of these 'citrusy' ales can taste all right in small doses, they look like lager! Give me a good pint of HSD any day!
I would never admit to this, but I did once like the taste of Watney's Red. :moremad:
Guinness in preference to Pride? Your example is, I hope, a heck of a lot better than my travels in Norfolk in the 70s. Lovely village pubs all serving Watney's Red!
Pun intended? ;)
Tends to get full quickly. Always standing room only.
What a great idea - enjoying reading your exploits! Funnily enough, we were in Cornwall the same week. We stayed in Porthleven, and I was very impressed with The Ship Inn. A couple of Sharp's, Doom...
I took a look at it and my postcode (SP2) came up as the 2nd most heavily populated areas in Britain. I notice that Oxford had the same accolade. I am not convinced, and won't be downloading it!
That looks amazing. How wonderful, I could satisfy two of my interest in such an establishment! Unfortunately, York is far too far away from me.
True! Maybe 'Paradise' was a bit over the top!
I would've given the barman £3.60, then a rollicking if he asked for the full amount.
There are some great pubs in central London. One of my favourites is the Ship Tavern, just off High Holborn. Another great pub is The Harp, near Charing Cross, Camra's UK pub of the year. Most of...
Thanks, Conrad! Glad to be back amongst fellow drinkers.
Personally, I never saw much to write home about regarding Doombar. I know this is probably down to my taste buds, as it has won many awards, but to me, Skinner's beers have much more taste.
