Yeah, rampant inflation has always been a regular visitor to the economy. The 1970's were terrible. I remember Harold Wilson jumping ship when things got tough. OH Happy Days.
Didn't Harold jump because he [or those around him] realised he was losing his memory? I know at the time I was puzzled why he left so suddenly, and as a conspiracy lover, Jeremy Thorpe anyone? I had all sorts of ideas, but IIRC the truth came out years later, early dementia I think
Oh yes I do now, published in Australia I think & Maggie doing her nut about it, it was all bit of a farce in the end as the only country it could not be bought / read was England, they forgot to ban it in Scotland :D

Ten Unique Pubs in Every Good Beer Guide for 35 Years - 6/09/07
Ten pubs in England and Wales that have been in every edition of the Good Beer Guide since the original edition in 1974 have been given a special award by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

It's on the Cornwall map/brewery list and in the Breweries section with a gushing pub like description. I suspect the local branch thought that entry was enough and it freed up a slot for another pub. Other branches have taken a different view (eg Marble Arch, Beacon at Sedgley)
"But what about the notion that some traditional pubs are best avoided or magnets for anti-social behaviour?"
"I think the idea that these kinds of pubs are places to avoid is completely wrong..."
Who the heck has been suggesting that traditional pubs in Leeds are a problem?
And what the blazes is a 'Loiner'?
Look no further: http://www.bbc.co.uk/leeds/content/a..._feature.shtml

talking of blazes (sorry Trainman, probably not what you meant)...
Just realised that this pubdoesn't have an entry here so I've added it - hope it's not too late.
Maybe its first review will mention the large smoking area...
Goose Cooked?
InBev swallows up US craft brewery behind the Goose Island beers. I've had their IPA and Honkers Ale, both of which were excellent.

Yet more pubs burning down. I hope these businesses were insured, especially in the current climate...
Whilst drink may be expensive down South and cheaper up North, those in the middle are clearly just a bunch of grumpy gits ;)
Nice Baps
Whatever happened to the British sense of humour ? BAPS ? I never use that word in the context of mammary glands. I see nothing wrong in advertising what you produce and no doubt BUNS, TARTS, cream HORNS. and CRUMPET, may also be baked . Have they no shame at these premises ?
Oh for the simple pleasures of bygone Carry on Films , Round the Horn and saucy seaside post cards ( all before your time Conrad). Nothing like a good double entandre.
I sense today is going to be a big random news day. So to kick it off I noticed this celebrity visit to Bristol City FC.
And who wouldn't, Bristol is after all God's chosen city.
I also just noticed that for some reason You Tube are doing a tribute to the silent movie today, you can set any film to be it's 1911 variant by clicking on the button in the bottom right.
