Already got one on my recent Birmingham trip. ;)
Dodgy picture of me about 8 pics down with some big bloke called Steve, The Pubcurmudgeon is looking on. https://retiredmartin.com/2017/10/19...cond-city-fun/
If fights hadn't already broken out with that concoction then I could add a discussion of the merits of the BITE top 20 or 100 pubs.
On a slightly more serious note I have to say I vastly prefer the Robinsons Visitor Centre to the Stockport Spoons. A Robinsons overkill situation will always be a danger in Stockport but I thought the beer quality there was as good or better than any of their tied houses. However, it's never going to be a place for the pub interior brigade.

Have I missed anyone out ? Apologies if so.
It looks like a very decent crew, see you in the 'spoons.
I seem to recall there may be a bus involved on Friday and the advice was to get a train ticket with bus, which i have singularly failed to do..
So the question is can you still pass pieces of silver over to the bus driver Oop Norf, or do we need to purchase a pass from a local newsagent like you have to do in the Smoke ?
You can still ask at departure or arrival station Gann - just say you forgot to get your plusbus, and they should sell you one. Even so, you'll probably only pay one bus (downhill on SH route ;o) ) or a day tkt is ~ £4.30 from bus driver.
Silver? What's that? Bring your groats, or chickens to barter...
I may not make the JDW or the Queens Head as I'm not a fan of furniture shops or Sam Smiths.
I know all the pubs on the crawl pretty well including the wild cards, so I'll meet up with you all in the Swan with Two Necks.
I've got some of the crews phone numbers (OB, BF & Quinno) if something goes wrong along the way.
There should be plenty of Stouts, Porters Old Ales and Barley Wines on in Stockport on Friday.
The Stockport & SM Camra branch annual "Winter Warmer Wander" starts tomorrow and 10 pubs on the PuG list are on the "WWW" list!
Anyone stopping overnight can do the 10 pubs all over again with the local branch!! :bemerry:

Due to arrive at 11:36, so may just see the main group at the Queen's Head or I'll catch you all up at the Swan with Two Necks.
I am on table 43 in Calverts Court. It is a very long pub. I am eating egg and bacon. If I come to Stockport again, I will bloody go somewhere else!!!
Good to meet Al Bundy today in the Railway Portwood. Good turn out (usual suspects!) for our autumn crawl around Stockport. Hope everyone got home safely. Photos to follow.
Currently on the train back. Have to say this was one of the best...
A day that promised so little on viewing the Wetherspoons meet delivered so much.
And bumping into Al Bundy was a Brucey Bonus, probably only topped by the pork pie in the Petersgate Tap..
Yes, wouldn't argue with that.
Those in attendance, according to my notes:
ROB Camra
An ecumenical matter
AlanH
Bucking Fastard
Quinno
RP Adam
Gann
Dave M & Cider drinker
Old Boots
Real Ale Ray & She-who-must-be-obeyed
Trainman & Jonesey
Pubsignman
Sheffield hatter
and not forgetting Al Bundy
We stuck pretty close to the route as detailed in #63 on this thread, but I must admit that the Titanic Plum Porter Grand Reserve 6.5% in the Bakers Vaults had something to do with my weakened resolve when it came to the trek from the Petersgate Tap to the Fairway, and I'm glad that everyone agreed to go straight to the Hope Inn instead, followed by the Magnet, Midland, Crown, Old Vic, Alexandra and Armoury.
Excellent beers, brilliant company and good pubs. We were welcomed by the very friendly Stopfordians (on both sides of the bar counter) wherever we went: what more could you ask for?
I think I've only just recovered...
No-one else ever did say which of the shag, marry, avoid they'd play on lager, John Smith Smooth and Newy Broon...
5 hour de-brief in Sheffield after a standing-only train journey over (and through, Wil) the Pennines.
Missed train home due to useless Sheffield trams, but blagged next one with understanding on-train staff.
Beer of the weekend, for me, was Mallinsons Amarillo XL in the KIT, although I drank a frightening quantity of Deception in Shakespeares (my potw, with fab free old world juke box) in a very short time.
Great to see everyone, as always, and RJ said he enjoyed the craic with the crew too...
What an excellent meet up and an excellent turnout. I managed to bank five new pubs on the crawl, which was an added bonus. The Bakers Dozen and Remedy served up two of my favourite beers on the day, Titanic Grand Reserve Plum Porter and the Remedy Oat Pale. Yeah also me and my big mouth! recommending the pork pies in the Petergate Micro, as I went up to get one and they had all gone. Still thanks to Lee, I got a segment. Looking forward to the fotos.

As I was a Stockport Virgin it was 14 new pubs for me and as for POTD I really cannot decide. Apart from the Calverts Court that I wouldn't bother with, they were all ones I would readily return to, even the Boars Head where Nev and I managed to lower the average age and were probably 20 years too early to be considered inclusive..
As for BOTD also has to be the Titanic Grand Reserve Plum Porter. And thanks to AEM for the "situation" of the day in the Midland !
