We are off to York for 3 nights on 10th March, so that is 3 new pubs to look out for now as we haven't done the new Ossett and Leeds pubs yet. Looking good.
Maybe next time then. Still going to have a good time!!

The York Press beer writer does a really good job in his publications. Always a good read. We will look forward to our visit up there for a few days when we go for the York beer festival 17 - 20 September. The Gillygate will be a new pub for us, but we have been to the other two over the years.
One of those lists, nothing much to disagree with for me,

What difficulties in the trade? York is a city that is rammed with tourists that provide a captive market for the rip-off merchants as is the case in Central London. I've been to York several times but have no desire to return there. There are plenty of places in the Midlands and North more worthy of attention than York.Quote:
That’s an above-inflation rise of four per cent in two years, suggesting the freeze on beer duty has been countered by continuing difficulties in the trade. As a comparison, the average keg pint is £3.41.

A few old photos of pubs in the outlying villages of York

We had a day in York yesterday. Met friends from California who were staying in York for a few days in the Tap, and then we had a taxi to the Blue Bell and crossed over to the Hop. Shame we didn't make any more pubs, but it was so good to get back there for a few hours. Hope to get there for a few days to meet up with a friend from Texas in July so may get around a bit better. Funny how my American friends all seem to love York, but I can well understand why.
