Yorkshire and adjacent counties:good week.
Yorkshire Dales:Nappa Scar 4%abv:amber,very well hopped,uncompromising malt.
Yorkshire Dales:Askrigg Ale 4.3%abv:mid brown, more balanced.Long hop finish.
Yorkshire Dales:Muker Silver 4%abv:not as pale, not as austere as before.
Thornbridge: Dark Harry:3.9%abv: Thornbridge's take on a MILD:very clinical.Toast, charcoal mouthfeel.Long hoppy finish.
Ilkley:Mary Jane:3.5%abv:Sublime.Very pale. Excellent hop and autumn fruit.Just this once I'll forgive the use of Yankee hops in English beer.
Black Sheep:Brew#1:4.8%abv:A beer from Black Sheep's micro brewery. Ultra pale, with Cascades and added coriander and orange peel. Slightly oily, and not really to my taste. Malt and hops only for me.
Jarrow:Rivet Catcher:4%abv:Pale 'n' hoppy. Sinuous hops.
Allendale:Golden Plover:4%abv:Very pale, nettley hops. Berries.Verging on five star.
Wold Top:Mallard:4%abv:Never too sure about Wold Top beers.Quite austere, with lingering fruitiness.
Treboom:Baron Saturday:5.2%abv:Lovely porter: dark coffee-bitter:toast and vanilla.
Theakston:Old Peculier:5.6%abv:Unlike Abbott, this hasn't deteriorated.Mysterious,dried fruit.
Theakston:Black Bull bitter:3.9%abv:Initially bland, intriguing flowery finish.
A very close run thing between the Baron and Mary Jane, with competition from Yorkshire Dales and Allendale. My BOTW,Ilkley-Mary Jane.
