A fascinating list, but I wonder just how many of the oldest are still the same structure - the Bell apparently now dates from 1598.
Off the top of my head, here are some old ones too, but at least three are late Victorian/early Edwardian rebuilds. The Feathers isn't that old (1603), but certainly knows how to show off its wood to best effect - should reopen soon too.
Ye Olde Black Bear, 1308 and reputedly the county's oldest inn.
The Old Red Lion, 1415 (1899).
Soul Store West as the Red Lion, 1444 (1890).
The Wrestlers, 1547 (1922).
Spaniards Inn, 1585.
The Feathers Hotel, 1603

I would be interested in the following.
1. Building in near continuous use selling alcohol to the general public and still in use for that purpose today.
2. Original building dating back to it's opening date,no complete rebuilds.
3 No movement of the operation to another building at another site, original site only.

Nicely on point, hondo! Eight for me: Shakespeare's, Fat Cat, Harlequin, KIT, Rutland Arms, University Arms, Sheffield Tap, Bath Hotel. A couple more seem vaguely familiar, but I honestly can't remember if I've been, or not. Still, that's what happens when you drink with 'trainman'.
16 for me. I thought it would be more to be honest. :(
I'll see if I can tick a couple more off over the crawl, although almost all I haven't done aren't on the route.
