Big Steve will be along as well.

We went into the White Swan on Saturday after visiting the excellent fest run by Halton Turner brewery in their tap room round the corner, and Nige from the Welly served us Little Critters Raspberry Blonde and Neepsend Cariban. There were certainly a lot more beers on. The White Swan is worth a visit.

There are so many good pubs in Birmingham that our problem will be which ones to leave out ! Folk are already asking about meeting places and timings of visits ,so how about this for an outline plan of the core pubs to be visited ? They all have a good ale reputation ,and many have noteable features and character.
There is lots of scope for going off piste along the way .
Wellington Gather here from noon until everyone has arrived, then move to the 33/51 bus stop.( Briar Rose is a good option for 'spoons breakfast prior to The Wellington)
Bartons Arms Soupy asked when we will arrive,I guess a little after 1pm.Photo opportunity here like the last time !
Bull On the way back to the city centre.
Gunmakers Arms Close to The Bull.
Old Joint Stock
Colmore
Post Office Vaults
These last three are close together.
Craven Arms
Lamp Tavern this is around 15 minutes walk from The Craven Arms.
Spotted Dog
White Swan
Anchor
These last three are close together and New Street is about 10 minutes walk from The Anchor.
This is just a suggestion ,lets knock it into shape if there are better options.
Well done for dipping your toe in the water!
Just a thought (and I haven't looked into this very deeply): The Bull and the Gunmakers are not far from the Wellington.
Then (this is a bit radical): Is the Bartons Arms that good a pub? I know it's an iconic building, but I wasn't right impressed beerwise. And it's a bit out on a limb. Anyone who hasn't been, or who desperately wants to go again, could add it in place of a couple of others somewhere in the schedule.
Looking at the map, and remembering slightly pissed attempts to find New Street station in the past, might it not be better to finish in the centre rather than in Digbeth?

There does seem to be quite a bit of walking, so I hope Gill & Ray can lend a bit of local knowledge and improve on these ideas with some helpful bus routes. Or perhaps we should be cutting out Digbeth altogether and including some more pubs north of centre (Jewellers Arms, Red Lion, Church)? (So many pubs, etc...)
Will does pose a good question........... would folk like to visit/revisit the Bartons Arms ? After the earlier discussion on this thread I assumed there was demand, but it's worth checking .
There are quite a few members who like Oakham ales
