Writing here as I'm not able to respond to the main thread. Tried to open the links but it just takes me main front page, deleting the extension from the link each time. Presumably there are developer permissions that stop mortals accessing those tools.

Over the last few weeks I've been busy re-opening pubs we have marked as closed but are clearly open via Google and Whatpub. "didn't re-open after lockdown 2" is popular one.
We used to have a collective effort to check these via:

However neither have been updated since 2020. Is there an alternative system that I'm unaware of, or do these scripts need to be fired-up again?
Before I visit somewhere I now go through the closed pubs for that area to see if they still are, and every time I find at least one that is marked as closed when it's open.
Usually they have been closed for a refurb or have been marked as 'up for sale'.
Thanks Quinno - but still not working. I now get a 404 when I click on either link. Is it my browser (Chromium Version 121.0.6167.139 (Official Build) for Linux Mint (64-bit)) that's the problem?
I get a 404 as well.
They are now 404 for me as well - they were fine 48 hours ago (sorry I hadn't realised it was the links you were referring to originally, just the forum post).
That may mean Dave is busy doing something...
