very sad news, I never met Alan but always enjoyed his contributions.
I echo all these sentiments. I did meet Alan a few years ago (back in Feb 2014) in the Mile End area, which as we all know is full of the sort of pubs that Alan and I like. He very kindly slowed down his pace a bit to accommodate me; in fact I think it took us a whole hour to do three pubs! We certainly did not discuss map points or football - just pubs and beer as I recall.
This is terribly sad news about our most prolific reviewer.I had the pleasure of joining Alan on one of his extensive pub crawls around Walthamstow in 2015 and it was a memorable day.Besides being a great pubman , I know he is devoted to his family. My thoughts are with you all.
Such sad news, thoughts obviously with Alan himself and his wife and family. Thanks for all your contributions many of which made me smile, especially the one of some pub in Salford where there was a fight going on inside, undeterred, Alan simply chose to have a drink in the other room. Quality.
Welcome Inn :notworthy:
Alan, always admired the amount of pubs you got round, and all the reviews and photos you did, that is some achievement. You certainly set the bar very high for the rest of us. Have also enjoyed reading your blog, so very sad to read the latest instalment. Sending you and your family our best wishes.
Sad news , Alan you are a pub reviewing legend.
Shitty news, my thoughts are with Alan and his family. Looking forward to the PuG 'doing a Winfield' mega crawl.
Yes , terrible news and my thoughts are with Alan and his family also...
It shows the legend of the man when you have an adjective named after you..
Very sad to hear that and my thoughts are with Alan and his family.
