My Beer of the Week would be the Killer Stout by Beowulf that I had in The Wellington - a 7.3% stout so one to sip but it was really enjoyable. A close second place I feel is warranted for Ginger Joe by Ridgeside, at The Head of Steam - a 5.6% ginger stout with just enough ginger kick without being overpowering.

Three Legs-English IPA 5%abv. Resinous hops,stone fruit.Moreish.
Rother Valley-Smild 3.8%abv.Pretty close to exceptional.Luscious dark MILD:chocolate,molasses,earth. My BOTW,taken at This Ancient Boro'
Larkins-Traditional 3.4%abv.Trad as it should be.Mellow toffee.Grand.

A close call this week, but the Blue Bee, a 6% IPA featuring Mosaic, Citra and Equinox hops gets the nod. Sampled in The Hop, Wakefield.

The White Rat was decent but BOTW is going to Ascot Dark Horse, not a brewery I am to keen on though being a fairly local one, the beer is a very pleasant Porter at a reasonably sessionable 4.5%
Another fine beer taken in The Alfred on the way home after a Sunday of work.
Did a pub crawl with my daughter and son in law from Waterloo to the Borough .and drank some nice but expensive craft beers without getting anything better than this one.
Although it would have been difficult to beat on any day.

The winner is the Salopian Panacea as tried in the Haverfordwest JDW for £1.99. It was run close by the Gloucester Imperial Stout at £5.60 a pint (2 halves) in Newport's Tiny Rebel bar. Tiny Rebel can be a great brewery when they get it right but the Club Tropicana was more like a cocktail than a beer.

All starred would have been worthy winners in many other weeks but none could match BOTW Northern Monk New World IPA as tried on cask at the Bald Buzzard's rare beer festival. It's good in tins, it's great on keg and it's knockout on cask. 6.2%, marmalade, TT Landlord on acid and I'm yet to recover.

There were many fine pints,but BOTW goes to an old favourite Dark Star American Pale Ale on sparkling form in The Viaduct Tavern.,a revisit to a very old haunt.

That was the first pub where I tried the new Ind Coope Burton Ale. I remember the landlord describing it as "liquid gold". What he should have said is "I'm ripping you all off".Quote:
