Some real quality this week and the bottles tasted great working down the Bosley Locks ,but BOTW goes to RedWillow Wreckless,fresh as a daisy an easy three pinter in The Young Pretender.

Some very good beers amongst a little tedium.
There can be only one winner though, BOTW Dark Star Greenhopped IPA . A modern classic in fine fettle, enjoyed in Cobbetts.
A trip to Birmingham next Saturday may throw up something of interest.

The Jaipur is the obvious candidate but I'm going for the Bridgehouse Cherry Choc Stout as tried in a couple of JDWs for just over two quid a pint. It's a strong stout with a hint of cherries. Most of the W Yorks JDWs seem to be pretty good with plenty of Locale options.

Larkins-Traditional. 3.4%abv:Leafy hops. Harsher than remembered.
Crafty Brewing-Crafty One.4.2%abv:Modern style pale ale. Some mineral quality.From a brewery new to me.
Bedlam-SMaSH 4.4%abv.Single malt, single hop-not sure of identity of either.Amber,kitchen herbs,stone fruit.
Salopian-Treasure Trove 4%abv. Resinous hops,mangoes.Golden with vim.From a brewery new to me, strangely enough.As I expected from Salopian's reputation.
A tight race between the Salopian and the Bedlam, but my BOTW is Bedlam's SMaSH.

A tight call between the excellent Wreckless and always moreish Ape Ale.
BOTW Blue Monkey Ape Ale. A deliciously complex and ridiculously drinkable IPA at 5.4%.
Golden Promise barley malt and Mosaic hops according to the website. Sounds just like my sort of thing.Quote:

Bedlam -smash 4.4 tried at the Florence- Herne hill. A very good brewery imo. Surprised to see it was brewed with Mosiac.

An up and down week. Little poor beer, but little that stood out. The one that did, however, was a brown ale (two in two weeks!) albeit with a twist, enjoyed in The Carpenters Arms, E2.
