Seeing as we've had first record bought and 12th birthday #1 we may as well have a First Gig Attended theme. So here goes,
The Jam - Royal Court, Liverpool, 25/9/82. A Saturday I believe.

Earliest one I can remember is Patti Smith at the Grugahalle in Essen in about 1977.
Somewhat embarrassingly, I believe it was Showaddywaddy at the Bristol Colston Hall, probably around '79.
12th March 1972 Deep Purple at the Fairfield Halls,Croydon as part of their Machine Head world tour.
My ears were still ringing at school the next morning.
Pretty Things at the 100 Club, late 1964.
R.E.M. at murrayfield
I'd seen lots of local bands around town before this but my big gigs stared with :-
Yes at the Kings Hall Belle Vue Manchester 10/09/1972
Followed swiftly by:-
Deep Purple at Free Trade Hall Manchester on 25/09/1972
I also had my first drag of a spliff when it went along the row at the Yes concert.
My second drag was when it came back. :p I was 15. ;)
I still have the ticket stubs for these.
Dr Feelgood ,Guildford Civic Hall, early 1976..Cant remember if I had a splif not
My first experience of live music was at the Reading Festival in 1995 - first band I saw was a Geordie punk band called China Drum who were great and who I've seen many times since. Also saw Smashing Pumpkins, Neil Young (with Pearl Jam as his backing band), Green Day, Foo Fighters (only their third ever UK show), Soundgarden, Ash, Teenage Fanclub, Hole and loads more.
First gig proper was Blur at the Bournemouth International Centre in Dec 1995.
Pink Floyd at the Empire Pool, Wembley 1973, a group of us applied for tickets but I was the only one that got one, so I had to go on my own. I wasn't quite 16 at the time.
Japan in the Royal Court, Liverpool, 1982, followed by Spandau Ballet couple of days later...
Mine was Cream at the Starlight ballroom, Greenford in probably 1967.
Madness, Brighton Centre in the easter of 1983 with Joe Boxers and Elvis Costello playing support.
I had seen loads of small local gigs, mainly at JB's in Dudley but I think my first proper gig could have been Frankie Goes To Hollywood at the NEC in January 1987. I was 16 and still at school. I saw quite a few bands that year - The Mission, The Cult etc.
Simple Minds, Birmingham NEC, 1995.
Too years too late, as it turned out.
My elder sister saw The Beatles live in Manchester in 1962. Gerry and the Pacemakers were the "support" act!
I was only 12 but she "forced" me to be the first person in my class to have a Beatle Cut. Then known as a "Julius".
She also went to The Cavern several times but never saw the Beatles there.
My first gig would be Family at a Buxton Pop Festival high up in the hills above the town (about 1969). A young not well known group called Wizard were on the bill long before they hit the charts. It rained all day and we all went home soggy and full of mud. Happy days!
Sheffield Corporation, roughly October 2000. It was a Vandals gig but we only went for the support band - The Ataris.
The Ataris then headlined at Joseph's Well in Leeds the following week, which we also went to. Joseph's Well has long been offices
I wasn’t fortunate enough to grow up in a time with many high profile bands that are worth seeing. I think my first was the rather mediocre Feeder, though I enjoyed it enough at the time.
Nazareth, Leeds Town Hall, 1973.
Not my thing now, but at the time they blew me away.(I was 13).
Dire Straits, 1991 N.E.C. Birningham
Just found...
