BOTW goes to Oakham Green Devil IPA *,a great strong IPA on top form in The George and only missed out on the three pint test when curiosity got the better of me for a try on Thornbridge Melba*,a decent peach IPA.
Next week looking good,Walthamstow crawl with RAR and Mrs Ale and later on a visit to Marsworth and Aylesbury should produce a much longer list and hopefully a very good BOTW.

The winner is Twickenham Black Eel, possibly needing some more hops as it was a bit porter like but still a great beer. The Brodie's Azacca deserves a mention as it's one of the bitterest beers I've tried in a long time.

An interesting visit to the Camden Town Brewery Bar produced my beer of the week, Camden Town Flue Faker an inspired 5,9% smoked Lager.
Decent week for me, with several new beers tried.
Coniston - Bluebird Premium XB.
Ghost - Wraith.*
Outlaw - Weakender. (sic)* (3%)
Kirkstall - Black Band Porter.*
Vocation - Pride and Joy.
Bad Co - Espresso Logic.
Great Heck - Mosaic.*
Fernandes - A Swift One.
Fernandes - Chocolate Stout.
Stamps - Galaxy.
Stancill - Red Velvet.*
Barely a cigarette paper between the Mosaic and the Weakender. The former is one of those beers that really accumulate in flavour. At the bottom of the first pint I decided I could stay on it all evening. Alas, I could only manage two more! Special mention for the Weakender, which had tremendous flavour for a 3% beer. No doubt the triple hopping with Cascade, Crystal and Simcoe helped. One of the best low alcohol beers I've tasted.
Pretty poor week for me ale-wise, with the usual suspects cropping up in the pubs I visited. Hence, I'm going to have to default to my runner-up of last week which was still in tip-top form - Ilkley Brewery Mary Jane (3.5%) - encountered again at The Wheatsheaf in Chinnor. Hoppy, refreshing and sessionable: the only bugbear was that, as a guest ale, it was 20p more expensive than the other two ales on (GK IPA and 'Wheatsheaf Ale' - the latter of which was rebadged Hardy & Hanson Bitter) despite it being weaker.
Not a lot of variety this week
little beer co-little smooth (too sweet)
Portobello-home turf pale (dark brown pale ale.new style of beer maybe)
surrey hills-surrey nirvana (perfumed hop flavour. weird)
five points -pale ale (lacking something.only £2.95 a pint though)
fullers -London porter ( superb as usual)
but the best beer was very good (3 pints)
