The Dering Arms Perhaps not to everyone's taste, being probably more restaurant than pub.A fine baronial , heritage public bar and the longest standing guv'nor in the area, who cooks a mean fish.
The Black Eagle, Hockley.
Evening Star, quality beer.
The Albion in Chester, absolutely one of a kind
The Grocers, Irlam. Though not a great month with a few stalwarts disappointing me a bit in Urmston, Stockton, Manchester and Yarm.
The Thatched House
Excellent pub, will have to return here for a longer session next time.
The Mitre - and a lame excuse for a first visit, given that I only live 25 minutes' walk from it.
Rather than going for the "best" pub visited last month (most likely a repeat) I'm going for a vastly improved one. The Railway in Belper was dire when I first visited. It's now run by Lincoln Green brewery and completely refurbished. It opens at 10:00 and does breakfasts. I got here after 10:00 and there was a fair crowd of mixed elderly folk. Generally, the men were drinking LG pints and the women coffee. I really liked it, Belper is well worth a look nowadays.
POTM Railway
Peter Kavanaghs
Quirky and authentic and worth the walk from the more normal haunts.
