I would guess they intend to completely revamp the pub as they also have extra ground floor space. It currently lacks any smoking area. There's an existing hotel next to the Theatre opposite called the Britannia so there will be lots of them around the new Interchange.
The pub is currently a poor outlet for a city with just the five front hand pumps used for genuine guest ales and the two side ones doubled up with the Trio Of Doom, a cider and some football themed dross from the Marston stable. It always seems to be hopelessly short staffed. On the plus side they've had Pale Rider on a couple of times on recent visits.
That would be one of the Britannia Hotels currently getting lots of stick for sacking and evicting all their staff without notice immediately following lockdown. It is suggested that they make (made) most of their money from local authority contracts for homeless families and asylum seekers.

Par for the course. Stratford has a surprisingly high infection rate, seems some are trying to make it worse.
Anyone heard of the 'neverspoons' app, which supposedly finds a decent independent near to your wetherspoons? Just had a msg from pal in Beeston saying it worked. Mind you, not hard to find excellent pubs in Beeston...
This is what I found online, not tried it:
