Not many visits this month, but I enjoyed this old favourite that I've known since I was a boy:The Ferry Inn
Cavern of the Curious Gnome, Chester.
Cracking little place with more than hints of the House of the Trembling Madness. Had a Chimay from the tap, and was stewarded over by a ten foot gnome!
I wonder how foreigners would pronounce gnome...
Very Impressed with A Hoppy Place.
Even before I read Brainy Pool's review, I too thought that this place sounds like a Prog Rock album, something fronted by Rick Wakeman.
Otherwise, some pretty terrible pubs due to mopping up the dross in Westminster and Islington, with just 11 new visits this month:
The Charlotte Despard
The Eaglet
The Enkel Arms
Lord High Admiral
North Nineteen
The Phoenix
Sports Bar & Grill
Three Falcons
Whittington Stone
Wig & Pen
By a whisker, POTM goes to: Traders Inn.
Just one new pub this month, but definitely worthy of a mention. The Prince of Wales was a couple of minutes stroll, along the canal, from my daughter's graduation at Symphony Hall. Decent beer (10 pumps?) and a friendly, welcoming landlady.
Three Pigeons.
Full marks from me.
Sorry, but it has to be a club this month (and not just any old one, but just recognised with Camra's Club of the Year award): Marden Village Club (WhatPub).
