Hi all.

I am doing an over-nighter in Wigan for the footie next month. Any must-do pubs in Wigan ?? As always I am interested in the good, the bad and the ugly !!

We are actually staying by Haydock ( down the road from Ashton-in-Makerfield where there seems to be loads of pubs !!).

We should also have a Sunday afternoon session in Manchester before coming home so it looks like being a good weekend !!:drinkup::drinkup:

The Anvil (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/56509/) is probably the best pub in Wigan Town Centre.

Many of the decent pubs in Wigan are on the edges of the town.

Other suggestions in the town itself would be

The Bowling Green (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/20155/) and

Swan & Railway Hotel (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/19085/) a bit rough & ready

The Boulevard (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/63039/) changed completely recently and is GBG 2012 listed

Tudor House Hotel (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/70182/) student oriented but with decent ale.

I haven't been to Wigan for a little while though and last time I was there I was at Robinwood Police station & then the Mags Court.

All work related of course.
