I have been wondering why the Isle of Man is not included in the listings. It may not be officially part of the UK but it seems so British and is included in other guides like the Good Beer Guide, the Good Pub Guide and BITE. To Admin or anyone else.

Thanks a lot ROBCamra. I never thought of using the search bar. I wonder why it doesn't have it's own interactive icon like everywhere else or is me not finding it?

I am getting greedy now. When I type Jersey I only get the Jersey Arms, or trying Channel Islands only gives me Kelham Island etc. Still, not a bad place to get lost in!:bemerry:
I have not tried Gibralter yet!

Isle of Man is an awkward one, we can't geocode it, so maps don't work properly. Also would you want the extra space taken up at the top of the screen to add Isle of Man alongside England, Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland. It just doesn't really fit in until we come up with a way of handling the rest of the World in general.

If I remember rightly it did originally exist as a county in England which was clearly wrong, and when we removed it it sort of disappeared. But that is why the content exists.

I know, I spent ages moving all the pubs manually a while ago. ;)

It is strange though isn't it. All the rest of the UK is covered but not IOM.

I mean, here in the North West we still get IOM news on North West Tonight, so the BBC thinks it's in the UK.

It's probably just not worthwhile Google doing it.

I think it is one to blame on Ordnance Survey. They don't do it (we now use their data more than Google's) and I think they are the origin of Google's data.

No idea why they haven't mapped them though.

You'll find this note on the Ordnance Survey website:

"The Isle of Man Survey is the official mapping service for the Isle of Man. It produces electronic map data and also publishes the 1:25 000 scale Outdoor Leisure Map, which is popular with walkers, athletic clubs, motorsport organisations and local residents."

That led me to this:

I see what you mean with Google. I've just keyed in IM1 2LX to see if it would land on the Aperitivo Bar but it has almost placed it on the ferry back to Liverpool! At least the street level is working OK. Perhaps IOM should go back to being a county in England, I am sure no one would be too bothered.
