A few intresting beers so far this week ,

Ministry of Beer - Dark Arts
Stonehouse - Station Bitter
Cairngorn - Trade Winds
Wrekin Havoc , the house beer at the Wrekin Inn , no idea who brews it:confused:
Saddlers - Red House

I am sure some Castle Rock or Blue Monkey beers will be on the list by the end of the week:D:drinkup:

Disappointed not to make it to Nottingham, hopefully the trains didn't ruin a great day.
A small but, almost, perfectly formed list this week:

Oakham Bishops Farewell
Dark Star American Pale Ale
Great Oakley Gobble
Small Paul's Elder Sarum
Tring XL IPA

All very good with the exception of the IPA sadly. BoTW goes to Great Oakley Gobble, a best bitter style with a touch of sweetness at 4.5%.

Not too much Beer this week only a few Pints.

Beartown Wojted
Odell 90 Shillings
Thornbridge Wild Holly
Thwaites Nutty Black
Fullers London Pride
Fullers ESB
Brains SA Gold
Sharps Doom Bar

I will go for Thwaites Nutty Black as Beer of the week.

I was sorry to miss the Nottingham extravaganza, but glad everyone had such a cracking time. Is this thread a bit short this week because of memory loss? Not many interesting beers for me this week:

Dark Star - Festival
Roosters - Wild Mule
Cropton - Blackout (almost a BABOTW)
Surrey Hills - Shere Drop
Cottage - Jurassic Bark

Dark Star get it again with Festival, drunk in the Lamb, Surbiton, though the Wild Mule and Jurassic Bark were pretty impressive as well

Not so much memory loss as spoiled for choice I think. After much thought I'm going for an old favourite but surprisingly not one from Nottingham

Acorn Old Moor Porter.

My beer of the week will come from Nottingham trip as it was our first trip out after Egham.

The beers we had were:
Castle Rock Tern
Castle Rock Redstart x 3
Castle Rock Screech Owl. Disappointed in this as I rated it as a favourite of theirs, but this did not meet expectations.
Castle Rock William "Bendigo" Thompson
Abbeydale Beer Works Dr Morton Rubrication
Grafton Encore
Blue Monkey Magic
Liverpool Organic Jade
Fyne Jarl
Kelham Island Bud Ekins
Blue Monkey Evolution
Greene King Abbot Reserve
Nottingham EPA
White Rose Guaranteed Sunshine/Drink to the Dregs.
Acorn Embers
Mallard Duck n Dive
York Guzzler

As we had 3 Castle Rock Redstarts over the day, reckon I can safely say that was BOTW although the White Rose in the Salutation was another I could have had a session on.

Thanks Gill for the reminder of some of the beers I sampled but failed to note down.I also had a very fine Oatmeal Stout somewhere ,BG Sips was as good as ever but BOTW for me was Fyne Ales Jarl, which was bursting with taste and very memorable for a 3.8% ABV.My first experience of Fyne Ales and I hope not my last.

The Oatmeal Stout was in the Hand & Heart which is why it's not noted by Gill.
A fine drink it was, but notes at home so can't check who it was from..

Had an excellent week this week, after a couple of poor ones. Highlights included Pictish Palisade, Moor Confidence, Raw Anibus Porter, and the ever reliable Dark Star APA.

But despite the strong competition there is a clear BOTW - Marble Pint, enjoyed in the excellent Magpie and Crown in Brentford.

Managed to try 20 different beers in Nottingham on Friday, topped up with a flying pint of Jaipur, in the Sheffield Tap, due to an an unscheduled stop in the station. Tried this week:

Castle Rock - Pale Ale.
Castle Rock - Black Gold.
Castle Rock - Preservation Fine Ale.
Castle Rock - Sheriff's Tipple.
Castle Rock - William 'Bendigo' Thompson.
Castle rock - Elsie Mo.
Nottingham Brewery - Rock Mild.
Nottingham Brewery - Knight's Tale.
Nutbrook - Banter.
Dr Morton's - Rubrication.
Nottingham Brewery - EPA.
Dancing Duck - Dark Drake.
Fyne - Jarl.
Ilkley - Stout Mary.
Liverpool Organic Brewery - Jade.
Blue Monkey - Evolution.
Nottingham Brewery - Rock Bitter.
Holdens - Black Country Bitter.
Acorn - Golden Embers.
Wentworth - Oatmeal Stout.
Thornbridge - Jaipur.

Overall, a lot of solid beers, but not many with the wow factor. My top three were the Rubrication, Dark Drake and the fabulous Fyne Jarl, my BOTW.

I must say I agree with A&H that nothing in Nottingham made me go WOW.

I like the Fyne Jarl, but I also know that if you have more than a pint your mouth is so dry you need something else to quench the thirst.

So as everybody had a half.... I don't think the full effect was felt. :p

My BOTW is going to be Thwaites (yes Thwaites) Our Boys tried more thas once in The Baum on Saturday night.

The best new beer they've brewed in ages. Unusually for Thwaites it's light, hoppy and 4.4%

It's also in aid of the British Legion. :notworthy:

I have a (very) hazy memory of you telling us this in The Ropewalk, on Friday, ROB. Still like to try more than a pint though!

Only a couple of pints this week, after last week's delights:Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter. Lunchtime on an unseasonally mild Remembrance Day in a new pub.The only ale on, what a beer!

Having missed out on the PG meet-up I don't have much variety to choose from this week but it's going to be Fullers Black Cab Stout. A very welcome addition to their Winter stable.

Young's (OK, Wells's) Winter Warmer at The White Cross (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/60899/), Richmond at their splendid Winter Warmer Breakfast last Thursday...

The Nottingham session obviously dominated the week but had a few decent pints elsewhere including a couple of enjoyable pints new to me in the Penderels Oak, Holborn (Adnams New Zealand IPA and DBC Jurassic). Since a good beer is also about the company and surroundings that go with it, I'll prompt for the Liverpool Organic Brewery Jade at the Organ Grinder in Nottingham. I think most people made a beeline for the Blue Monkey beers and I may have been the only one to try it but it was my favourite beer of the day.
