Just got back from doing the weekly shop at Asda. One of the "jobs of the week" when you've been made one of the "great unwashed".
Special offer at our very large branch are a selection of bottled beers at £1.

Yep, good prices there - & a look at the online site shows quite a number at 3 for £4, which represents a decent discount for bottles at the dearer end of the scale, often the stronger ones eg Nethergate Old Growler, Joesph Holt Fifth Sense ,Sixex, & Thunderholt, also Deuchars IPA, Hobgoblin, Jennings Cumberland, oh, just have a look...
Not much golden stuff there for me to place a worthwhile order just yet, though I did get a few darker ones from Morrisons (4 for £5.50) for our (early) haggis on Sun.

Got back from the Asda run about an hour after you did! I tend to ring the changes with the 3 for £4 offer (today Ossett 'Excelsior', Leeds 'Best', York'Terrier') but there was one very lonely lookng bottle of Old Pec so I nabbed that as well!

No special offers in our one and only supermarket. By the time you have paid to travel to Worcester or Hereford its cheaper to go to the pub.

Got some Lancaster Bomber on the 3 for £4 in Tesco , tend not to use the local Asda as i seem to know half the staff and most of the customers , popping in for a few things can take several hours .
Trying to workout an excuse to go to Newport , they got a Waitrose whose bottled ale selection is better than the big 4 supermarkets put together :notworthy:

Wyre Piddle in the hole £1 a bottle in Booths yesterday, on the other hand the Fullers 1845 was £2.22
Bottle of St Hellier's cider is selling for.. wait for it... 49p at Netto!!! I bought 20 bottles for just £9.80! Bargain...
Sadly they are no longer selling for 49p and has reverted to orginal price 99p.

I say if you can find a Netto it is always worth a look. They often have some interesting beers. Be carefull though of the understrength spirits if you think you have found a bargain bottle of scotch or brandy cause you ain't
To bring into context, my local Co-op has Old Pec at £2.09 per 500ml bottle :(
But is the only source of tins of HSB, at over £5 for 4, pass on that for the time being and get it in the pub

Just noticed that Old Pec is over a fiver for 4 bottles in packaging, would any one really pay over a quid more, or do they not notice?
The Snecklifiter here is not a quid, more the 1.50 mark, shame as I fancied trying it out

I was out shopping in ASDA at Minworth, Near Brum with my Dad..
I spotted Old Pec, Spitfire, Old Speck, Londons Pride, Bishops Finger selling for Quid. Me and my old man just piled on all various of ales in trolley and happily went out with 20 quid worth of boozes!

For you lovers of stronger &/or darker ales, I see that Asda (again) have Brakspear Triple (7.2%) 500ml btls, 3 for £4. Not the most discounted, pricewise, but perhaps the best abv per £ offer there.
Also summat called Asda Whitechapel Porter (brewed by Sheps), 5.2%, 500ml btls at £1.

While this is clearly good for me in the short term, I fear that this indicates permanent removal of these lines from the shelves once they've sold. :(

Went to our local Waitrose the other week to stock up , around a 100 different bottled ales in stock , the only place i can get Betty Stoggs round here (bottled)

Asda again; I thought I'd discovered THE bargain when I noticed a ~5.6% porter/stout stylee at 3 for £4 OR just 76p per 500ml bottle. Before I could remember my password the item had disappeared, presumably along with the pricing manager. I have, however, trawled the wine section for the best reductions in our preferred styles (eg £7btls at 3 for a tenner) & placed an order for 21btls wine & 14btls beer (research) for £88. I think that's rather good.

Sainsbury's (at least, the one by me) currently has Brakspear Triple included in their 2 for £3 offer. Obviously this doesn't match Asda's generosity, but it's still a good deal, as these things go.

Not strictly a bargain as such, but on reading the Leeds beer blog 'The Good Stuff' just now, I found out that Crouch Vale is the brewery behind M&S' Essex Summer Ale. Leigh the author says he found it more complex and rewarding than the already fabulous 'Brewer's Gold', so he's certainly piqued my interest!

Just got back from the Asda & Aldi run and noticed that Aldi are offering a 4 x500ml bottle 'Beers of Character' box set for £4.99. Contains one each of the following:
Hobgoblin 5.2% (Ruby)
Wychcraft Ale 4.5% (Blonde)
Scarecrow Ale 4.7% (Golden Pale Ale)
Goliath 4.2% (Ruby)
Can't say Wychwood beers are my favourite, but not a bad price at £1.25 per bottle. Just passing it on for what it's worth.

I know hardly anyone lives near one but Booths have Wentworth Imperial at £1 a bottle and WPA at £1.12 a bottle. They also have Elgoods at £1.39 and much of the range is £1.59 or £1.65. A slight difference to the £3.50 being asked for Alnwick IPA in the local beer shop.

Our local Waitrose was selling this during the winter, though I think they no longer stock it. I liked it, the first US pale that I'd had, though it didn't blow my socks off, as I'd been led to beleive. Subsequently I had a bottle of Sierra Nevada Trombone or Torpedo or somesuch. That was a real hopbomb, though I doubt if I'd really drink it for pleasure, as I like a bit of malt in my beer. Not quite as head blowing as the hop pellet I chewed on during a trip round Sheps (or was it Fremlins) several years back.

Not really a bargain, but I picked up a bottle of Curious Brew Cobbs IPA, which uses the rare Cobbs hop. Spicy and peppery, I enjoyed it , and will revisit it. I think it's brewed for Curious Brew, an offshoot of Chapel Down Wines of Smallhythe,(who make some award winning wines, not that I've tried them) by Hepworth's of Horsham ,who also brew Prospect organic ale, a serious hopfest.
From Monday 26 July until 28 July only
A case [12 x 500ml] of Bishop's Finger, or Spitfire for £12
No idea if you can "mix & match", probably not, unless you are sneaky ;)

Just noticed this week that Asda are now including Kelham Island 'Pale Rider' and 'Easy Rider' in the 3 for £4.00 offer.
Managed to spot the Brewdog beers (from hondo's link) in Morrisons at £1.59. However, they're pretty steeply priced for 330ml bottles when you think about it. Works out the equivalent of £2.40 per 500ml. Will probably still try them though.
I have just tried the Brewdog Punk IPA, bought form Morrison's this morning at £1.59
It is a nice pleasant drink, but TBH given the price & [for my area] the proximity of Lidl this will be my first & last try of Brewdog ales

Don't want to rub salt into the wound 'tm', but now the refurb of my local store has finished they've expanded the range even more. Saltaire 'Triple Chocaholic', Acorn 'Gorlovka Stout' and 'Golden Pippin' all in the 3 for £4.00 offer, (plus beers from York, Little Valley etc). Happy Days!

Of interest to any West Midlands/South Staffs types - Not bottled beer but Highgate Brewery are launching 5 litre kegs/party cans of Old Ale, Highgate Dark MILD, Davenport's Original and Davenport's FGL lager for Christmas for £13.99. Available from the Brewery premises and with a £1 discount if you have the article from page 15 of the Express and Star dated Saturday 13th November.
The intended date for them going on sale was going to be 1st December but the level of interest has been high so they are likely to start sooner (best to phone them first 01922 644453)

Champagne. Lacks character imo but, if anyone here or anyone's other half like a drop set by for the festive season, Tesco have some half prices down in the £13-£16 bracket, and Asda top the pile with Moët (pron Mow - Et, not Mow -eh?) at 2 btls for £30.
Personally I think it would be much better spent on quality & characterful beers - 3 for £4 Asda, 4 for £5.50 Morrisons.

Abbot was also among those at £1, but they seem to have completely dropped the (quite wide) range that used to sell at 3 for £4.
Wines still include some ok ones at 3 for £10. An Asda van turned up here today.

My guess is they won't bring it back until they've shifted all that excess Christmas stock. Beers like Spitfire are the sort of thing that relatives think their nearest and dearest will want. Trouble is, even at £1 a pop, they're not shifting at my local branch, unfortunately.

Possibly an acquired taste for some, very citrussy and sharp but I love it. On the same deal is their Porter which is a decent offering too (6%).

I tried. Even to the extent of retrieving the bike from its cobwebby slumber in the shed, pumping up the deflated tyres, dragging my sorry arse up the hill (& walking the bike half of it), enjoying the whizz down the other side, only to find, as expected, no such goodies on Sainsbury's so-called 'superstore' in Streatham. The ale shelf is truly pathetic there these days, and they think that 3 for £5 of some commonly available beer (perm any Fullers/Badger) is some sort of bargain? Pah!
I don't believe I've ever tried the iconic Sierra Nevada (:o) and was ready to lay in a few along with the Brewdogs.

I've been watching from afar (via Opening Times, ironically) as these places open - plus new Marble locations, though I haven't been to town in recent flying visits. Neil visited Chorlton recently, which is supposed to have some worthy ale outlets these days, apparently.
I've ordered some Sierra Nevada online from Sainsbo's, so Sunday may be the day for trying a (celebratory or suicidal) drop.

Gaaagggh!!! The order arrived, but no Sierra Nevada! Presume out of stock. They sent Hardcore IPA instead which, in a fit of peek/disappointment, I returned. Despite being more expensive, I should have kept it on the chance that, as with a wrongly delivered item from Asda earlier this year, they may have credited me without bothering with the hassle of collecting.

I wouldn't usually buy beer in cans, but the Brewdog Punk IPA (was 4x 330ml for £3.93, but I don't see it now) was pretty good.

Wadworth Bishop's Tipple, 5.5%, 500ml, Morrisons, £1
Light copper; lighter than expected as it comes in a brownish bottle. Nicely balanced hops, not aggressive. Very good, imo, for the price.
I've twice been caught out at Streatham Morrisons as they keep putting these on the £1.75 shelf (a combination of which become 4 for £5.50). So I get to the till, have 3x£1.75 and 1x£1.00, meaning I don't get the discount! Invariably scuttle back for another £1.75 bottle, knocking £1.50 off the bill, and keep the BT at £1.00. Next time I think I'll get a dozen of these & have done with it.

Not a bargain alert, but a Sierra Nevada update. I finally tried this famous beer last night, having succumbed to a 330ml bottle at £1.79. Very nice, but I wouldn't necessarily elevate it above, say, Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted, or others of that ilk.
Also shared a bottle of Blue Moon with Tigerdrinker, after a disastrous sample in Old Joint Stock at the Brum meet - nope, despite the great name it's just not my style, no big flavour hit, I didn't get the alleged citrus or the feel of a 5.4% beer, vaguely reminded me of the powdered 'cream soda' (?) we used get as kids. I note you can apply for a free half, here (http://www.bluemoonbrewingcompany.co.uk/). Does anyone here have affection for wheat beers? From the aesthetics to the flavour, I, evidently, don't get it.

Recent tastings have suggested that it's not been as hoppy recently. However, I think that maybe I'm just getting spoiled with the more flavoursome beers that are around these days. There was a time when this was pretty revolutionary stuff.

Schnieder & Sohn, Weisse, Tap 6 (formerly known as Aventinus) is one of my all time favourite beers and Maisels isn't bad either but a bit weak at 5.2%.

Our store has the shelving on the back wall, not with normal bottles, same as previous years.

Possibly one for Thuck Phat, Bucking Fastard and other Oakham fans. It's maybe a bit late in the day to be recommending a summer beer (due to limited availability), but I was pottering around the drinks section of our local M&S and noticed that their bottled Cambridgeshire Summer Ale was brewed by the estimable Peterborough outfit. Bought a few, on a whim, and have to say it's lovely stuff with the usual citrus, hoppy hit associated with Oakham. Not particularly cheap, with it being M&S, but the quality's certainly there.

Not sure if this applies to all branches of Sainsburys, or just Wakefield (Trinity Walk), but they were selling 660ml bottles of Brewdog Punk IPA for £2.49, which struck me as pretty reasonable.
Also, M&S are selling a 6.7% IPA brewed by Adnams @ £2.09. Will certainly try that and report back at some stage. (Didn't fancy lugging the bottles today).

For the past three or four weeks Tesco Extra in Edmonton have been selling Castle Rock Diamond Reign (4.1%) at £1.00 a bottle. It's a fairly bog-standard Pale Ale and certainly isn't my idea of a commemorative brew, but at a quid for 500ml (aka a typical short measure pint in a pub) you can't really complain. They must have grossly overestimated the demand for this as there always seems to be a stack of it on the shelf.
They also do Banks's bitter at a quid.
Larger ASDA branches do packs of 4x500ml cans of Banks's Mild for £3.44. It's surprising how good this is, I think they have used mixed gas in the tins.

I will check the ESB and 1845 next time I'm in Tesco. The only justification for reducing the strength of a beer is if it was over 7.5% when the "Park Bench" duty levels came into force. They always say it was "public demand".
These breweries that take part in this sharp practice are not doing themselves any favours. I used to quite like Brains SA gold from the supermarket and on draught but have boycotted it since the reduction in strength. The same goes for bottled Lees Brewers Dark, which was reduced from 3.0% (or was it 3.2%) to 2.8% and the flavour changed from a nice bottled mild to a rubbish brown ale. I actually complained to Lees brewery about this and got the usual brush off from some marketing executive moron.

I spotted a new one (or one I hadn't noticed before) in Tesco yesterday, It's Tesco Finest American IPA (9.2%) and is on multibuy 4 for £6 at least until the end of the month. I think the single price was £1.99. It's Brewdog's Hardcore IPA rebadged and I am going to try some next week, carefully ignoring the idiotic description that the brewery supplies. Obviously it's in 330ml bottles rather than 500ml. Brewdog brewery are charging £15 for 6 bottles of Hardcore and I didn't bother to check if that includes delivery.
Fans of strong ones may like to know that the legendary Old Tom is also on the same multibuy, and I think ASDA have started doing it at 2 for £3.

I can vouch for that as well, the Edmonton Green branch had most of their bottled range on 4 for £5 today, sadly with very few micros only Purity I think. Down here the 4 for £5 offers only ended with the last budget when it became 2 for £3. I wonder if Tesco will follow suit.
Actually that is wrong, ASDA used to do 3 for £4, it was Tesco that was the last to do 4 for a fiver. I'm getting my supermarkets confused!

Actually, as the nights draw in, some decent ABVs (alcohol-by-value) available online at 4-for£5. Ballards Wassail, Black Sheep Riggwelter, Old Thumper, Old Tom, Old P, Boondoggle, and McEwans Champion no1 (7.3%). Not that it'll all turn up, but here's hoping...

I got three stouts today and they were charged at 3 for £3, I also noticed that the Ginger was available. I tried the stout tonight and found it rather sweet, I suspect that Marston's use caramel in their dark beers. Given that the ABV is identical to Marston's Oyster Stout I wonder if they are the same brew. I only tried the Oyster once and don't remember much about it. I recently got 4 Fuller's Black Cabs for a fiver in ASDA and it's a MUCH nicer stout. ASDA are back to 2 for £3 now and I didn't notice if the Fuller's beers were included.
At a quid a bottle you can't really complain, nor even at the full price of £1.33.
I suspect that the three for £3 offer may run out tomorrow, according to their online sales it ends on the 20th of November.
It's a shame that their Finest American IPA didn't seem to be available today.

The Stout still doesn't have a multibuy display, I'll try it next week.
Tesco seem to have re-introduced their Simply beer range. My local store has the Golden ale, the Dark ale and a new Stout. The IPA and the Ginger seem to have been discontinued. The Ginger was rubbish so that isn't a loss. In my local store the Golden and Dark were three for £3.00, but apparently not the Stout. I checked online and the Stout is a multi-buy, so if there is anyone around next time I visit I will check it out.
On my last visit I got four bottles of Fuller's ESB thinking it would be six quid. At the checkout it transpired that they were only £1.49 each, over a half less than they charge in their pubs, and roughly a half what Spoons charge. The Tesco Finest American IPA is back in my local branch at the same price, £1.99 a bottle or 4 for six quid. It's Brewdog Hardcore at an affordable price, so why not appreciate it at home rather than in a noisy over-priced concrete bunker?

Finally managed to get my hands on a bottle of this rediscovered barley wine and have to say it's slightly disappointing. It's not unpleasant, just not particularly exciting. As Oh Good Ale says in his blog, it doesn't live up to the back story. Flavour wise there's toffee, almond and apples, but a pretty short finish for its strength. At £3.29 a pop, I'd rather have two bottles of McEwans Champion Ale for £3.00, from Asda.

I'm not sure how much of a "bargain" this is but Sainsbury's are doing two 600 ml bottles of Brewdog Punk IPA for £4.00.
I plumped for the last three bottles of Ridgeway Brewery bottle conditioned Bad King John (6%) for a fiver instead.
This was in the Loughton branch in Essex.
I agree with you Ale and Hearty about the Bateman's on price only as I've not tried it, but would point out that Tesco do four McEwan's Champions for six quid. The Old Tom at 2 for £3.00 in ASDA is also worth a look as Tesco seem to have stopped stocking it.

Tesco are doing three 750ml bottles of Leffe for the price of two which is £6.36 for the three.
This actually works out cheaper by volume than their various 4 bottles for £6 deals and is considerably cheaper than ASDA who have it on "special offer" for £2.50 a bottle. I don't often drink Belgian beers but couldn't resist this offer.

I'm not familiar with the Scottish Brewer Williams Bros, but looking at the GBG list they have an impressive range of beers. The problem is it doesn't say what the prices are and I don't have an Aldi anywhere near where I live!
ASDA have been doing four bottles for a fiver for the past few weeks and I got some Fuller's Black Cabs the week before last. I shudder to think what I would have paid in a Fuller's tied house.
I'm not familiar with the Scottish Brewer Williams Bros, but looking at the GBG list they have an impressive range of beers.
Their beers have always been good when I've tried them over the border.

We were staying at Bridge of Allan, and went to check out pubs in Stirling, and were told there was a beer festival in Alloa. How far is that I asked, as you do, and found we could pop over there easily by train - which we did. Most of the beers on there were from Williams Bros, and we had a great time. They used to have the Heather beers including Fraoch years ago.

Tesco are currently doing lots of their bottles at 4 for the price of 3. This means that Banks's Bitter works out at a remarkable 0.75 a bottle and their own Simply range (brewed by Marston's) are roughly £1.05 a bottle.
Lidl have self styled beer festival from Thursday 11 July 2013.
Most around £1.25ish a 500ml bottle, includes English, Welsh, Scottish as well as foreign stuff, and even some lager :evilgrin:

Morrisons have introduced a new range of beers under the M Signature banner. They are brewed by Everards, Marstons, Black Sheep and one who I've forgotten. They are at a "trial price" of £1.50 a 500ml bottle. I picked up a Marstons IPA (5.8%) and Everards Dark Ale (5.0%) today. It looks like the full price will be £1.99 which would mean they aren't eligible for multibuy.

I think that Morrisons are less guilty of this than the others, but the size of the branch is always a factor. The new M Signature range I mentioned earlier has two good ones by Titanic. I've also seen Dark Star and Old Dairy bottles in my local Morrisons.

I was thinking of my local Asda in particular. I won't be seeing anything from Ilkley, Acorn etc until late Jan/ early Feb, until the increasingly discounted Christmas stock has disappeared. Will look out for the Titanic ones next time I'm in town.

As part of their Burns Night promotion, Aldi have two beers on special offer from respected Scottish brewer Williams Brothers. Fraoch Heather Ale (5%ABV) and Chieftain Pale Ale (4%ABV). Both are 500ml bottles at £1.39 each. Heather Ale is quite well known, but the Chieftain is brand new and made with 100% lager malt, Styrian and Cascade hops.

OK, it's not particularly a bargain, but for something this good I don't mind paying top dollar. Adnams sell their own version, in 330ml bottles, but the M&S ones are 500ml. More info here:

This was my BOTW a few weeks ago in the Spoons George at Wanstead. Adnams are doing some fantastic things and this is one that wasn't just for Spoons. It's a shame that the one beer that they brew and that I don't really care for (it's boring!) is Broadside and it's so widespread.

This isn't a Special Offer, a Multibuy or a Line Clearance so I can't say if Marston's have not been Crafty enough with this range. They are 500ml bottles rather than the dinky bottles for the boring looking GK range which are being sold at £1.79. I thought the Red was a decent beer and given that it didn't have the Marston's sulphury taste made me wonder if it was brewes by Banks.

The 4.7% steam is rather unpleasant. It has a sweet toffee like flavour. The lager is OK.

My local Tesco (a fairly large branch but not an Extra) was doing 500ml bottles of Shep's Xmas Ale (7.0%) today at a quid each. As I picked up a couple of bottles I almost smiled but it quickly turned into a grimace as I remembered I'd forked out a fiver for four Marston's bottles a few hours earlier in ASDA.
Not only is it ridiculously cheap but I don't recall seeing it before.
Tesco continuously have great deals on a pretty good selection of ales. I constantly snap up a few bottles of whatever there is on offer, often without ever having tried it. It's always nice to try something new and it's very rare that I find a beer I don't like enough not to drink it!

Generally speaking I agree with you completely. Does your one do the Tesco Finest American Double IPA? My one today had knocked the Marston's Revisionist series back down to £1.25. The idea that they might sell these in a pub is laughable but I thought they were reasonably OK at that price.

I went to a barbecue at a friend's gaff a few years ago where one of the visitors harangued the host for having too much food in the fridge with no room for any beer.

Me neither, they're usually a lottery either no carbonation or fobbing all over in spite of a good chill. I've also had more than a few that are infected. I tend to stick to German and Belgian beers for bottle conditioned as they get it right, or stick with people who brewery condition but know what they're doing. Fortunately I live round the corner from a Booths and an independent specialist off-license.
I stand them upright in the fridge but my wife moves then around and lays them on their sides to make space for water,milk juice and other stupid non essential liguids.

Marstons Old Empire, 5.7%, currently £1.25 at Sainsbos. A good abv (alcohol-by-value) if you like the beer.
They also have Wild River and Bengal Lancer at 3 for £5, I think a couple from these pages have those on previous shopping lists?
And if the missus likes fizz, Antoine de Clevecy champagne is £9.75, if you take up the 25% discount on > 6 botlles of wine (I think mixed btls qualify).
I'll be ordering a few 6s of Viognier and Shiraz...

I don't know how widely available this is, but my local Bargain Booze (http://www.bargainbooze.co.uk/) is doing bottles of Lancaster Black, Blond and Red (http://www.lancasterbrewery.co.uk/Bottles) for only 99p (don't know why no Amber). I've bought a few each week for a couple of months, and the guy that sold me the latest handful told me they have "crates and crates" of them in the cellar. These are really good quality ales and the level of carbonation doesn't detract from the taste. Hope you can find some where you live.

I can strongly recommend Brewdog Elvis Juice, Lagunitas IPA and in tins Brooklyn East IPA & Vocation Life & Death IPA (from Hebden Bridge ?!?!??). They also do Brewdog Mr President (£2.19) but with no multibuy option. They all seem to be 330ml so you need 2 to overfill a pint glass. My favourite of these is probably the Brewdog Elvis Juice which is a dry hoppy grapefruit flavoured 6.5% IPA..
They also do around four others of their brews. Why go to one of their horrible trendy bars when you can get their beers from Tesco ay a fraction of the cost?

From today, Aldi are knocking out sixteen different bottled beers, all at £1.29 for 500ml. Some are are a little ho-hum, but included amongst them is Oakham Inferno, which I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for. Of course, with it being Aldi, it may be that all the beers won't be available at any one time, so a phone call might save you an unnecessary journey. For what it's worth, the full list is:

I got the info from an Aldi leaflet, which would suggest it's a national list. If memory serves me well, I think the Old Empire may be one of their (semi?) regular beers. In either case, four in one go sounds like a good night to me! I was lucky enough to find some Inferno in my local store and also took a punt on a couple of others. The Great Corby Session IPA I found pretty dull, but the Arundel Wild Heaven, a 5.2% APA, was a very pleasant surprise. Will try and get a few more of those.

Not so much a bottled beer bargain, more just to register a delightful visit to the Tanners Wines shop in Bridgnorth yesterday. Attracted by their window display of local bottled beers, I wandered inside. Having thought I might buy one or two (I was cycling, with limited space in my pannier), I found myself within two minutes clutching no less than five bottles as follows:
Enville Gothic Ale 5.2% £2.25
Bewdley Brewery Bah Humbug 4.6% £2.00
Hobsons's Brewery Postman's Knock (rich ruby porter) 4.8% £2.25
Hobsons's Brewery Postman's Plum Porter 5.0% £2.35
Bewdley Brewery William Mucklow's Dark Mild 6.0% £2.70
I had to stop, as there was literally no way I could carry any more. No doubt there were also plenty of beers in different styles, but I didn't dare to look any further. Back home, I'm now looking forward to some yummy winter drinking.

Do you mean The Golden Lion (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/32025/)? No, I wish I'd known about it but I didn't do any research before going there. It was a last minute trip to Ironbridge and I thought I might as well have a look at Bridgnorth while I was there as it's a town I've never been to before. I hope to return before long. (I've now posted reviews of the three pubs I did there, plus one in Worfield beforehand and one in Broseley after. Also went to four in the Ironbridge area but haven't reviewed them yet.)

It's called having your beer and drinking it! In other words, I'm enjoying the prospect of getting around to drinking them some day. Then I'll enjoy the beers.

Just called in my local Tesco and there are a load of beers with "reduced to clear" under them. I didn't have a lot of time so I just grabbed 3 - there were at least 10 beers on offer. I had:
Fullers ESB - £1.14
Tesco own IPA - 85p
St Austell Black IPA - £1.20
Not sure if its only my local store but worth a look!

Not exactly a great line up of craft beer but Shepherd Neame -double stout is a great beer at a bargain price.
Tesco often have 4 x 500ml bottles for £6 so even the prices aren't great.

I quite like the look of the line up - a few I've not tried so I will popping in and stocking up!
If I lived closer to the border I would be popping into Scotland as there are a few on that list I'd like as well!

Can't knock them at £1.29 a pop, worth stocking up on a few to try.
Lidl also had a box of six Belgian beers for £10.99 - two varieties each of Gulden Draak, Bornem and Piraat. I think they must have been a special buy from last week or the week before as they took a bit of finding. The fifth store I tried had them though (so I got two boxes).

I went to a firework do yesterday and got two packs of four cans of Brewdog Elvis Juice from Tesco for refreshment. I was expecting this to cost £12.00 but it was actually only £9.00. I'm sure the two for £9.00 offer was not posted on the shelf. It works out about £1.80 a pint. What do Brewdog charge in their own pubs for it?

That's a great deal.I often buy 3 x 330cl bottles for £5.25 which works out at £3 a pint,but worth it for refreshment while at home or steering a narrowboat.

I also discovered another one but not as cheap. It's by Vocation and Yeastie boys and is called Breakfast Club. It's a 6.9% strong stout with Blueberries and Waffled(?!?) costing £2.50 for a 440ml can. It's smooth as silk and tastes fantastic.

I think that was my BOTW a few weeks ago.Agree.
Tesco are doing two packs of Brewdog and a few others for £9.00 special offer.Probably the cheapest beer in the shop.
Waffles I think.

Not sure if this offer is being rolled out nationwide, (I suspect not), but my local Asda is knocking out 500ml bottles of Saltaire Citra for £1.67 a pop, or 4 for £6.00. This one really is very drinkable and has become our 'house beer'. Unfortunately, Mrs A&H and the hearty-ettes have also taken a shine to it, so it's not uncommon to go down to the cellar and find a serious dent in my stash.

I've only seen the Vocation Breakfast Stout and another strong one. They have dropped the Wild Card bottles replacing them with two big Brewdog Bottles at £3.00 and £5.00. I looked at the £5.00 one to find that it was just a 5.5% IPA.

They've hugely expanded the range of cans as there are also new smaller ones which have a multi-buy option of three for £5.25. Thornbridge are now well represented and I also noticed FourPure, Hop Stuff and Five Points. The best value are the boxes of 4 cans which are 2 for £9.00.
