Possible deletion in Thurso

The Helmsman Bar (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/48298/) is listed as being at Scapa House, Castlegreen Road, Thurso. I have had a look at this road on Google maps street view. It is a housing estate.

I have found a list (http://www.bdnorthscotland.co.uk/business-list-by-postcode.asp?p=KW14&offset=300) of businesses, all supposedly in Scapa House, including the National Farmers Union, who locate Scapa House at 55 Castlegreen Road. (Their current location is 4 Brabster Street, Thurso, suggesting that Scapa House was an old address.) Here is 55 Castlegreen Road (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=KW14+7LS&hl=en&ll=58.594852,-3.533757&spn=0.002896,0.013797&sll=57.711507,-5.677314&sspn=0.013228,0.027595&vpsrc=0&t=h&z=16&layer=c&cbll=58.594847,-3.533747&panoid=O-JldfwPNBLcgPaOOpTjpQ&cbp=11,106.96,,1,-0.94), quite clearly not a pub and never has been. I don't know how these things start, but this listing seems to be pretty much fictional, or at best relates to a building that was demolished decades ago. Please delete.

The Royal Mail has 55 Castlegreen Rd as a slightly different postcode (KW14 7LT) and the postcode on the entry (KW14 7LS) includes a Lidl - my guess is if the bar existed it was demolished and is now the Lidl. I hope it wasn't a good bar - there's not many of them in Thurso.

Good point. The "55" may be misleading, as it's not in all the addresses of businesses at Scapa House.

Sorry, I misread the first post and completely spannered this up, I thought you were saying that there was a Helmsman Bar that shouldn't exist and another bar called 55 Castlegreen (rereading now I see that was a bizarre interpretation). Anyway, long story short it is now deleted.

It sounds like if I have the interpretation right the Helmsman has now gone (and was listed at the wrong location with us) and our page had no pictures or reviews, so hopefully if someone knew about it and can add detail they will re-add it.

Yes, what you say is about how I see it. Any bar at the apparently demolished Scapa House is long since gone. Old Boots may be right, and the Lidl is on the site. Or the (1970s?) housing estate may have been built there. As you say, if anyone has any info or pics it can soon be re-added.
