This (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/6879/) appears to be a private hotel, it is currently undergoing a change of ownership but who knows what it will become.

Hi oldboots,

The Holmewood Hotel was a pub i went in there on 30 June 1987,it was a Kimberley /Hardys and Hansons tied house.
I forgot to take my camera so i have'nt got a photo to put on the site.

There was also another pub nearby called the Williamthorpe Hotel this was also a Kimberley tied house i visited this on the same day.
I think Hardys and Hansons /Kimberley got rid of both of these pubs in the mid 90s.

I would have taken a photo but there was a removal van outside blocking most of the front this morning and there was a burly chap looking menacing. As there were no signs just a patch beside the door where one or two had been I am assuming the building was the Holmewood. It is a large building in the middle of a terrace with some half timbering. The only other building in the street that looks vaguely like a pub is what is now called Devonshire House housing an outfit called Indepentent Lifts Ltd. I think it's either a closed pub or perhaps a demolished one.

Look here for Google's picture (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Chesterfield,+S42+5RF,+UK&hl=en&ll=53.190158,-1.350728&spn=0.004448,0.009398&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=18.021622,38.496094&vpsrc=6&z=17&layer=c&cbll=53.190452,-1.350599&panoid=59ygql-DlKn9zOfvAfqAbw&cbp=12,356.53,,0,-0.1)

That whole area of Derbyshire has suffered very badly from pub closures especially round South Normanton, very depressing to drive round.

Hi oldboots, Alan,

In light of your combined information I went with marking the Holmewood Hotel (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/6879/) as closed.

Thanks a lot for your efforts.
