You might find an unopened Party Seven can brewed/created by Watney,Combe and Reid. If you do come across one then give the Royal Society of Chemistry a call because they want one.Its something to do with tracing the history of bottling and canning in the brewing industry. ( You did not for one minute think they wanted to drink it did you ? Mmmm, then again Chemists are always sniffing weird stuff) :eek:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1243660/Hunt-unopened-Party-Seven-celebrate-50-year-anniversary-great-leap-forward-beer-drinkers.html

I remember few years ago, me and my mate was clearing out his parents' huge garage (enough for 4 cars!) and found this small crate with Tetleys. Do any of you rememberTetley's old design with man in fox hunting suit? I opened the crate and picked up a can. I was shocked when I saw its Best Before date... 1994. This was in around 2005! 11 years out of date! Sensibly, we empited entire stock into drain.

His parents has forgetten about it and was intended for Happy New Year party in 1993...

I like the idea of take away real ale, Eddie86, but a local SPAR sometimes carry out Westerham ales:lovely idea, but I'm afraid the milk type container imparts a plasticy taste.(Much better than a Party Seven though, which I certainly remember!)

I remember going to a family party in the 70's and using the required triangular ended opener on the can . No it did not end up on the ceiling, like so many did, but soaked the crotch of my beige cavalry twill trousers. Only the incontinent truly understand the problems of trying to pull while wearing visibly damp trousers. Now they just put it down to my age.

I do look in me shed sometimes, usually to chuck something else over the back. As for emptying it, not a hope, one day it'll burst and 'mrs rd' will crow about telling me so. Anyways, the nearest thing to drinkable in there is bottle of anti-freeze.
Thinkin on it, years ago I had mate who drank anti-freeze, paint thinners, Tetley, Carlsberg, anything really. He once drank a quart of sour milk, I felt ill just watching. He's dead, of course, he stepped of the back of a bus onto the bonnet of a car, both were doing about 40. Stone-cold sober at the time, the coroner believed it, I didn't..........:glass:

As did Dean Stockwell, who has the added benefit of being a new Galactica regular.

I have to admit we have had many an amusing conversation with this friend about Janeway, I think the funniest was the 'How vain is she?', everyone else had wild and wacky adventures on the holodeck, but she had to have chats with Leonardo Da Vinci whom she was best buds with :D

Firstly, congrats to all the Aston Villa fans! I can't believe I wasn't paying attention to the footie last night, caught the result after the match.

I was a fan of the old Dr Who, a lot less so since Russell took control, but I have hope now that the reigns have been handed to Peter Moffat. The wife is just a scary scary Dr Who fan, and if you are not careful I may fish out some pictures of the cake top at our reception.

Also good pubs near Wembley, it has long been an aspiration to add this aspect to the site, so we would try and note down pubs near grounds and their attitude towards football fans and away fans. Is that something you would find useful?

RogerB
21-01-2010, 10:02
Football fans and safe pubs to drink in is such a hit and miss subject that I'm not sure a specific section would be a very accurate guide. There are too many variables involved; who you support, where you are, importance of the game, history of aggro between fans etc. I always leave it to common sense when we go on away trips. I remember having a great time in a pub in Newcastle before a cup tie a couple of years ago and we were happily chatting away with the home fans when a group of fellow Spurs fans barged in and started singing away disrupting the whole ambience of the pub. It was embarrassing to be associated with them and disrespectful to both the pub and the Newcastle fans in there. It also made me a target for any trouble that could have started despite me having nothing to do with it. The only safe(ish) option is to drink well away from the grounds.

Yes Soupy it is amazing how the towns have grown in 40 years. Still some room to find a bit of solitude, normaly in the public bar on a tuesday afternoon:).

I think the ballon sequence was filmed at Hampton Court, Bodenham once owned by the then Lord and Lady Hereford. A strange pair of eccentrics worthy of parts in a Carry On film. Lovely area at the base of Dinmore Hill not far from the very good Englands Gate pub.

Part of the 70s Survivors was filmed in Herefordshire if I remember. I also watch quality detective series Gently,Wycliff, Poirot, etc. It will be a shame when the present Somerset Murders ends and changes are made .

It's amazing how they come up with locations for these productions. I remember once watching an episode of Daziel and Pascoe, supposedly set in the fictional Yorkshire town of Wetherton, only to see outdoor shots of Blockley, a very pretty village in Gloucestershire ! I recognised it immediately because my sister used to live there.

In Harry's Game, they used Leeds to double for Belfast!

Steel was chilling - does anyone remember the story with the WWI soldier ghost on the railway station - top stuff
Yep, probably my favourite of the series, especially chilling given his solution as well.

Always fun, back when I used to watch Casualty it was always amusing watching them do the ambulance sequences, all the streets were in Bristol, but I don't remember them linking up the way they did in the show. And lots of the outside scenes for Life on Mars were filmed a few streets away from where my wife grew up (Gorton, Mancs).

How strange - we were only talking about party 7s Saturday night. I'm too young to remember them of course :p but we're looking at doing take away real ale soon :D

We've started doing take away real ale in 2 pint and 4 pint containers before Christmas. We do not do a lot yet but have a few regulars who do take aways. I am hoping it may be something which gets more use in teh summer with all those BBQ's etc (that's if we ever get a summer!).

I have to admit I have bought them, the Festivity I was enjoying over Christmas was bought as a take away from one of my locals.
