Hi Andy,

Forgot to tell you I went to the Walsall - Villa friendly the other week. I hadn't been to the Bescott since the year it opened.

I had a drink in a couple of fairly average pubs just up the road - Bradford Arms (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/38813/) and Sir Charles Napier (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/38928/) - I can't imagine you use either regularly.

Good luck for the season,

Del.

Cheers mate. Eight free signings in the summer means that it's anyone's guess where we finish up. Pre season hasn't given much cause for optimism but you can never tell. I'd be happy with mid-table after last year's escape.

If I go to the pub before or after a home game it tends to be the White Lion (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/38964/) which, I think, is easily one of the best real ale pubs in Walsall - not least because it serves a fine pint of Highgate Mild.

I hope the Villa live up to their potential this year too.

I called in there on a pub crawl sometime last year. I thought it was a decent pub.

I usually have a crawl round Walsall before a Villa match at least once a season - mainly to go in pubs that are new to me !

St Matthews Hall (Lloyd's No. 1) is the newest, on the site of the old courthouse. I haven't been in yet though.

Give us a shout when you're on your next Walsall visit.

I have been in a few times - it is better than the other Walsall Spoons, but as usual, beer quality varies

Same clientele as Martha's Vineyard or has the language emanating from the from steps mellowed?
