Brewdog - Punk IPA, from Foley's in Leeds. Up there with an Imperial Stout from North Bar, and a couple of Ossettt brews from The Hop. This weekend was notable that I had my first ever brew from the Fernandes brewers that did not appeal (called "Solar Powered" - just a bit bland - maybe they were honouring Tetleys?).

Yesterday featured fff Moondance at Horsham's Malt Shovel, Surrey Hills Greensands IPA at Warnham's Sussex Oak, Surrey Hills Gilt Complex at Rusper's Royal Oak, all fabulous beers, but botw has to be (again) the sensational Thornbridge Kipling, enjoyed on separate occasions at Croydon's George (£2.30).

Ossett - White Rose Wheat
Wentworth - New Zealand Pale
Accorn - Columbus IPA

Limited choices for us, but the Sheffield Brewery Mild Steel 3.7% has to be BOTW this week. Enjoyed it at the Star in Crowlas where the beer is always good.

I went in 10 Everards houses yesterday so i had better go with one of their beers.

My favourite beer this week was Everards Beacon bitter and this was very nice in the Stamford Arms in Groby

A great selection of beer to choose from this week.

Mallinsons Blacknell Bullet & Kirkstall Dissolution IPA were very good in Mr Foleys. (Punk IPA? on KEG? yeuk!)

Outlaw Wrangler & Liverpool Organic Porter were also good in the Cross Keys (Leeds).

Goose Eye Black Moor was very good in the Town Street Tavern (Horsforth)

Junction Porter in the Scarbrough (Leeds) and Ossett Madeline Lily in The Hop (Leeds) threw their hat into the ring.

But I think BOTW is going to be Salamander Interceptor tried in The Grove (Leeds).

Not a bad week for beer, but not reaching the heights of last Sunday's mini crawl round Leeds. Tried this week:

Allgates - Pretoria.
Goose Eye - Gooseneck.
Beartown - Black Bear.
Abbeydale - Absolution.
Tigertops - Tom Tom MILD.
Derby - Old Intentional.
Great Heck - Slaughterhouse Porter.
Goose Eye - Over & Stout.
Oldershaw - Blonde Volupta.
Fullers - Ascot Tercentenary.
Fernandes - Lime Lite.
Fernandes - Basil's Ruin.
Woodlands - Midnight Stout.

Particularly enjoyed the Pretoria and the Midnight Stout, but the clear winner was Oldershaw Blonde Volupta.

Same beer, same pub, same price for me too. There wasn't much in the way of competition but it's a worthy winner regardless.

I have decided that I won’t be maintaining a beer of the week thread any more, hence the lack of appearance of new threads. I have too many time commitments and something’s have to give, this is one of those things.

If someone feels they have the time and want to run the “of the week/month” threads, assuming they are a regular contributor, I can look at giving them the ability to stick and move threads which is all I was doing.

Two from Oakham to choose from, Bishops Farewell and BOTW White Dwarf, a tasty 4.3% wheat beer with Oakham's trademark bitter finish.

I'll give it a go unless one of our current moderators wants to take it on. A&H, Soup, either of you want to do it?

I am happy enough for you to take it on ROB, I think you make more sense than Soup or A&H, no discredit to them, but I don't think they are on as consistently as you.

I'll leave it a day or two just to make sure no one has any issues or preferences (I can be PM'd if they are private), but it makes a lot of sense to me as long as you are happy to do it.

I always enjoy trying to seek out my BotW so I hope it does continue.

As for the week just gone, a better selection than the previous week with Roosters Elderflower, Wantsum Ravening Wolf and Weltons Strawberry Summer all being in the mix. In the end it was a toss up between Youngs Wagglednace and Oakham JHB with the JHB winning in the end simply because I will probably have a chance to down a few more Waggledances before its current run is over.

Hehehe. I now realise you mean a more sensible/practicle choice, but that's not how I first read this, teehee...

:D Try as I might 'tm', I can't really argue!

If I was more confident with my computer skills, I wouldn't have minded having a go, but as Conrad has noticed my input is (by necessity) more limited of late and ROB's much more of a whizz than I am.

As my enforced period of, more or less, abstinance came to an end on Sunday last, I can confidently say my BotW was Old Thumper, as it was the only one I drank. Very nice too, although I have to say three pints of the stuff hit me right between the eyes..........:drinkup::drinkup::eek::nis helypished:

Thanks to Rob for taking on this thread and apologies for another late submission, but BOTW goes to Simply the Best from the Mighty Oak Brewery,Maldon .With a modest name like that ,there could have been room for disappointment but I found this tawny brew full of flavour with a good bitter finish.Well kept in The Old Cross Tavern ,Hertford.

It's a while since I contributed to a BOTW, but I couldn't let my new discovery go unmentioned. Faxe, a Danish beer I fouind on my recent travels, comes in 1 litre cans - remakable as much for its packaging as for its decent taste. Yes, I know it's not real ale, but it was still a pleasant way to pass the evening with friends, and I can look Mrs A in the eye and say with all honesty that I only had a couple of cans (maybe 3) all evening.
