For me and my wife we will head to Greece for our summer vacation, not sure where at the moment as we have done a lot of travelling round many islands,we were in Corfu this year and were not at all impressed with the place, when i booked it showed the hotel on the beach, when we arrived nearly 5 hours late due to thomas cook not booking families in other hotels we found our so called beach hotel situated in an alley 5 minutes walk away,so you can imagine the rest of the story, it just got worse and worse.
Any of you have any good reccommendations for hotels in Greece, i would love to hear them please.

Our favourite Greek island is Santorini, closely followed by Skiathos. Parga on the mainland scores highly as well.

This year we're going to Florida and no we won't be doing any themeparks except possibly the space centre.

We're off down the Keys and through the Everglades and anywhere in Forida that doesn't have families with kids (It's still bah humbug time).

Talking of bugs, do keep covered in the everglades, we had short sleeves & were bitten to bits by mossies, had to make a dash for the car in the end

Never did make it to the end of the Keys, seemed to be like driving over one long bridge for ever & ever. Liked the wet T shirt bits though [back to pervs galore?] :D

Mrs B is getting made redundant so it all depends on when and how much her cheque will be. Could be Bognor or a World Tour depending on the outcome. With the £ being in a bit of a 2 & 8, mainstream Europe & USA is becoming a bit pricey but we have been sniffing around ideas of Iceland (about as cheap as it will ever get) or the Balkans.

We did Florida a few years back and made a point of spending as little time in Orlando as possible. We just hired a car at the airport and set off in a Thelma & Louise meets Easy Rider kind of way. The Everglades are fantastic but watch out for the crocs - they turn up in the most unlikely places. It dries up for part of the year and I can't help feel that a dry Everglades is lacking something so I hope you're going during the wet period. We made it all the way down to Key West - you can't beat a fantastic sunset followed by a few beers in the Green Parrott. Make sure you watch the Schwarzeneggar movie True Lies and Bogart's Key Largo before you go! Kennedy Space Centre is also a must - we were lucky enough to catch a night time Shuttle launch, an experience that I will never forget. I would love to go back and I'm extremely envious!

Just been reading a brochure sent through from Sunvil Holidays, who claim to be the Greek holiday Specialist, the prices are £1400 per person and a lot of that is for room only, some specialist !

I had a Simply Greece brochure , similar to Sunvil lots of lovelly places but very pricey , a lot of them included boat hire as that was the only way to get to the accomodation

My plans have settled over the past few days, 16-17 days, mid-August to early September, Shropshire, Stratford oA and the Peaks. No fancy destinations, probably not a lot of sun, but a lot of fun, a little hard work, old friends and, most-like a fair few good beers.
Shropshire Game Fair, Chetwynd Aston, the Warwickshire & West Midlands Game Fair at Ragley Hall and the Chatsworth Country Fair at Chatsworth House, any of you who want a good, if expensive, day out, then turn up, look out the lurchers (NL&RC) and give me a shout..........
:drinkup: cheers, whether I see you there or not.:drinkup::cheers:

Would love to come and find you rd and the dogs-I need to get to a game fair to look at pheasant feeders that actually work, but I fear mid Aug is not the best time of year to be away from the farm , nursery (and pheasants!)

I'm thinking I'm going to have to get to know the railways a bit better and do some of this pub touring, it would appear to be a lot of fun!

Of those I plan to make this year, I think Chatsworth would be best for you, equipment-wise, and it is early September, not a lot better I know. We also plan to be in Chetwynd Aston for the Raptor Fair, that's the 2/3 May. I haven't been to Ragley for several years and have no idea of it's emphasis these days.
I had no idea you were into gamebirds, or even that you were a farmer and have only the vaguest idea where you are based. All that said for sheer choice you can't beat the CLA, which is also at Ragley this year, July 23/25th.
Whatever, I hope we meet up, I've only met 'old boots' so far and I thoroughly enjoyed his company.
For heaven's sake don't let him know I said that.........:drinkup::drinkup:...until the day...:drinkup:
